In this four-part series, we take you on our September 2020 boondocking adventures in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. We will show our free camping spots in the Teton, Sawtooth and Bitterroot mountains.
***Correction to the video - The Lewis & Clark Expedition took place in 1805.
In our previous episodes, we camped overlooking the beautiful Teton Mountain range. Spent a night in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest where a herd of sheep visited in the morning. We visited the waterfalls in Idaho Falls and Twin Falls. Saw the natural sculptures in Black Magic Canyon and found a wonderful campsite along the North Fork Big Wood River.
Come along with us as we continue to explore more of Idaho & Montana.
Boondocking sites along Stanley Creek (44.24880, -115.04697) and along the Salmon River between Challis & the town of Salmon (44.82780, -113.98863)

If you would have stayed on the Yankee Fork road, and followed it through, you would have ended up in downtown Challis. It's called the "Custer Motorway".

Cool. Maybe if we get in that area again we’ll have to try that. Thanks for watching!

Everette Haire - thanks for watching and for your very kind comments! Quite an honor to be mentioned in the same sentence as Ken Burns.

That no crowds part sadly has changed in the last few years.

Dont worry about going 50 ft off trail. They will clear the tree, the grass will grow back in one season, and nobody will ever know a few vehicles went around the tree. Worst case scenario the forrest service will put a big rock to block people from going around the stump. This is not a big deal.

I agree with another commenter, wonderful video. Really enjoyed it except for the louder than needed background noise (music). Curious about your concern about the brakes. I assume you were in 1st (low) gear. Not being there, maybe steeper than it looked. Overall, beautifully done.

@7:16 Your leaders want to come in and mind all this country. Open pit ⚒ miming. You can you can thank the people that live there and a mayor back in the day for making This and what it is today. it's NOT a national park otherwise you can't hunt onit.

I loved the music. We live in Idaho, and this area is one of our very favorite places. We visit it annually, staying at Redfish Lake Lodge, near Stanley. This year (2024) was a difficult one, as many forest fires tragically burned areas around Stanley.
