Did you have to drill a hole in the shaft for the head
@BreamBassBeyond
@BreamBassBeyond 3 года назад
You do, I must have missed that clip when I put my video together. Nothing to it though, just stick the head on and make sure that it's lined up and pointing the same direction as the foot then mark the spot on the shaft where the hole should be, take the head back off, drill the hole, then put it all back together.

Thank You.I had an unfortunate accident with mine this weekend lol.Do you think you could shorten the shaft up some and just push the excess wire in the shaft tube? I don’t need mine as long as it is

Man that’s an awesome video I’m glad that I watched it. Two hours ago before I watch this video I was thinking about what would happen if I ever hit a big stump or rock with my trolling motor and snapped it. And then boom! I came across your video. Good stuff man keep up the good work and thanks for your subscription. I’m going to enjoy your channel.

When I did mine, it wouldn’t come out…twisted it out and it left tons of material in mine. I had to scrape it forever! I also had to recalibrate mine!! When I first put it on and took it out, my spot lock went crazy!? Almost through me off my boat.
@BreamBassBeyond

I had to do a little scraping, not too much though. Luckily my spot-lock didn't do that, bet that was scary for a second!

Thanks, was looking for a guide on how to change out shafts for the xi3. I have the 36"for my yak, but dont like how it pulses water back into the scupper holes, and been looking to put on a longer shaft. This helps, you sound and look like the younger version of Jene Jensen, aka flukemaster.

Thanks so much for this video. Did you put a small amount of loctite on the whole length of the threads? Or just a couple of drops on each side? Of the shaft

You used a pick only to clean treads? I’m just trying to make sure treads are clean enough. I used a pick then a small wire brush and was able to get around wires. Really don’t want to take head apart! Maybe try to “dry fit” it first?
@BreamBassBeyond
@BreamBassBeyond 2 года назад
I actually used a pick and a small wire wheel, I mentioned it in the video just didn't actually get a clip of that part. I would think that you should be fine as long as you got all the left over material out of the threads and didn't get any down into the components of the motor. Good luck on your repair!

Thanks for the video. Helped a lot. Can I use blue locktite? Or do I have to use red?
@BreamBassBeyond
@BreamBassBeyond 3 года назад
Red is recommended as it creates a permanent bond that can't be broken without heat. I wouldn't use the blue personally, it may work, but I would rather be on the safe side and stick with the red.

@@BreamBassBeyond I had broke the shaft on my minnkota and let it sit since broken. I took it apart today and ordered the shaft and internal parts. Wish I had taken it apart sooner cause the motor got water in it when it broke and it’s very corroded inside now after sitting. Hoping once parts come in I can put the new shaft on and put new parts in the motor. Parts and shipping were best price from minnkota directly. Did you check if your motor got some water in it when it broke?
@BreamBassBeyond
@BreamBassBeyond 3 года назад
It didn't, my trolling motor deployed while I was on plane, luckily it snapped above the water line so no water got in it.

How did you get a flashlight inside the foot to show the threads you cleaned out?? Did you disassemble it to get access to the inside? It appears you have the flashlight inside shining out.
