Fridge brick 😂, i"m warming up with the help of your daily exercises. 'Take it easy, be careful, slow down, there are things you shouldn't do, you don't have full use anymore, you are not 20 anymore, and you shouldn't do that". That was the advice I got for the last 10 years. What I was missing was the advice I CAN DO. And that's where these videos show me. So yeah, I am warming up.

Love this! Yeah waaay too often we're told to slow down when we don't need to!

This seemed to be caused a lot by misinformation / misdiagnosis. In my case the lower back when picking up a tissue with a reach across movement. I was given exercises for core bracing and not twisting the spine. Doctor recommended fridge brick. No pain, but you look like frankenstein when moving. Its still work in progress after finding mobility training. Mine seems to be more hip issues and have been doing a ton of mobility drills every morning and evening. Thanks to Tom and some other physiotherapist. I have found strength builds quicker than the flexability and mobility and therefore am working more on the issues and the strength comes along for the ride.

Just found your RU-vid shorts, and I am very interested in trying some your exercises/stretches/etc. I am 57 years old with some back/shoulder issues, and I'm wondering where, in your RU-vid channel videos, I should start, to see if this will work for me. Love the energy!

The playlists are good to start with! The shoulders and the hips ones, just pick a few from each to test

Thank you so much for doing these podcasts, they are so motivating. It is great to know wherever you are with your fitness and mobility it's not too late. Unfortunately the medical system can be quite scary with how they phrase things and can make you feel like you are written off. Many thanks for all you guys do. Have a great Christmas and New Year. SMM is amazing and you should be mega proud of what you have achieved. It's been a life saver for me literally 🎄❤️🙏

Hi Clare. Yes you are right. I am a medic in UK general practice. We bandy around phrases like chronic pain syndrome, osteopenia, lateral compartment osteoarthritis and such, then perform the Apley Grind Test, or Hawkins-Kennedy resulting in people taking horrendously powerful pain meds (I don't do this by the way, it just creates an even worse problem). For the past 15 years, I have worked to get my patients into at least lowered pain, by educating them into movement. Most people do not have any idea about what the body is supposed to do every day. Remember, your body was designed to last 90 years and to adapt to its environment. It will hold onto trauma and stress that needs to be released. The best weapons we have are happiness, food, water and movement. Don't eat anything that 'man' has had a hand in creating, drink lots of water (non-fluoridated) and don't sit in a chair, move as much as you can. Find positivity in everything you can. The body reflects the mind. Tom's content is amazing - well done Tom, you're making real change for people, it's so great to see. I wish you all the best Clare. Namaste x

@@humansnotai4912wow sounds like you are doing a great job. Ive been reading more about mind body issues and a lot of pain is due to tension and not processing stress and trauma. Our brains need to be made to feel safe and then usually chronic pain can reduce and disappear. We get trapped in a chronic pain loop that the brain is producing even when there is nothing physically injured. Well done for doing great work. SMM is brilliant. Happy New Year 🙏🙏

@@TomMorrison I was only remembering the motions to fix the problem, but now I'm remembering the video title and thumbnail image had someone doing behind the back hand clasp. Then an exercise of leaning forward and reaching back on one side and it's the details of the arm position I forget. So I may actually have the wrong video. :/

What is your opinion on osteopaths/chiropractors, was going to one for a long time til they injured me
@TomMorrison
@TomMorrison 7 месяцев назад
My usual first recommendation is to go to a good sports physiotherapist, one that trains quite hard themselves is always a good shout too 😄 mainly whoever you go to, make sure you get homework to have so you’re doing as much yourself as you can!

I have been to an Osteopath a few times. Ive gone to the same fellow for tight knees, which stem from the Hip Flexor tightness, Anterior Pelvic Tilt. His techniques initially seemed unique, different. But overall, the issues were not fully solved, the tightness returned not long afterwards, regardless of the stretching I do. I think that a sports physiotherapist is the way to go. Someone who will work more regarding strength rehab exercises and tuning back up things. Ive tennis elbow problems that, the Osteopath couldnt iron, touch out. So I need another shot at it from a sports physio, since the injury is direct Gym related.

I've been stretching hard in every way possible for about 5 months. Just trying to touch my toes knees locked or palms on floor , my knees shake violently like I'm getting electrocuted. It's like I have tight steel cables in my body. I'm starting to get pissed.
