I suspect you're right in that you can only go so far in working on your emotional wounds in solitude. Exposing wounds and triggers is most easily done in close relationships, with intimate relationships being the witch's cauldron.
This was so incredibly helpful. I have been literally agonizing over whether or not to explore dating while healing. I’m not ready yet but, these perspectives give me hope.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and I do bring it up pretty early on if I want someone to be part of my life because I’m working on self compassion. So if I’m sharing something with them I may say something like… “It is okay that this is difficult for me because of my ADHD, I will continue to work on X, Y and Z, but it’s understandable it’s not going to come as easy for me as other people”, and they can also remind me to go a little easier on myself if I’m being too critical, etc.
