As you mentioned a case where DIL is working and feel like taking rest on weekends, obviously MIL should understand that. Because she is same human like her son right? She wants her son to have some good rest on weekend as he worked throughout the week so why can't she let her DIL have some rest and relaxation for a day?I want to highlight a thing here that MIL are of a perception that their DIL should treat their son the same way she treats but they are failing to understand that DIL is wife and they both are partners and equals, so MILs should stop expecting the DILs to pamper their sons the way they do. So if DIL is working, both son and DIL have the equal responsibility to assist in the household chores, just DIL shouldn't be held responsible for entire thing, no one speaks about this but the harsh reality is when their son wakes up at 10AM on weekends MIL says he's so tired he's working so hard all the week he deserves the rest, but when it comes to DIL as Ajay said they will be saying like it is weekend you should wake up early and help me atleast today. Exactly no one talks about this everybody is there just to blame DIL and husbands simply escape saying that they can't take any side, but they never come forward make the things better, if both of them are working both deserve same treatment, MIL should stop treating their sons like infants and expecting DILs to take care of everything.

He can getup get the milk packets and drop kids at school while I assist my MIL in the morning chores but no, he sleeps after Netflix binge watch and wakes up just before work time and rushes, and MIL never points this out, whatever her son does is right and talks like he is the only one working hard for the family all my contribution is never recognised instead I get blamed and bashed, so in this context the problem is not just the women it is also the irresponsible men who never know how to take care of their mom and wife , he is not a husband he is a disaster he already failed for not taking any stand for their partner and not ready to change and make the things better. Toxic men are not exposed but women are criticised for everything, I just want to emphasize that keeping silent when your partner actually needs your support is biggest insult you can ever make and if you can't then never marry as you can't be called a partner if so. Peace in house is everybody's responsibility in the family, not just women's, so if everyone in the family does their job correct, peace will be there, not just MIL or DIL is responsible, every family member is responsible.
