We take Peanut on the long motor to town. It’s a beautiful trip with plenty to see. There are phinisis everywhere!
We check out the town of Labuan Bajo which is the jumping-off point for the Komodo National Park and the famous Komodo dragons.
It’s a very busy place. We are on the search for fan belts and bearings for Nutshell. Amazingly, we find the fan belts!
Magnus takes Hazel out for a beautiful sail in the bay. He has a ball!
We are waiting for our visa extension which is being held up by a sponsor letter so we decide to leave Labuan Bajo and spend some time in the nearby islands. We are on the hunt for manta rays.
We explore a high-class resort, find coral in shallow waters, experience a very strange ocean state and eventually find the manta rays. Plus, we get to see hundreds of starfish.
Thanks for watching.
Until next time…
Wendy and Magnus

Some of those shots: brown hilly terrain, almost barren, crystal clear blue water, balmies, reminds me of parts of Pacific Mexico. Fish market, tool shop.

It reminded us very much of the Sea of Cortez. Thanks for watching and commenting. W.

Those Manta's are so graceful, beautiful but also a little bit scary.

Totally agree! I was in the water for a while waiting for them but none came. When I got back in the boat they all started to swim by. They are slightly scary and extremely large and I didn’t want to get back in the water and land on one, so I watched from the tinnie instead! W.

It was a happening place! There were hundreds of phinisi boats everywhere! We loved it! It was such a contrast to the other places we had seen in Indonesia. W.

That chain of islands changed culture at every island, in Flores every valley. Catholic, islam, budist, hindu and mixed with local beliefs and customs. The hills and mountains of flores was increadable. Glad the tinny survived..

I couldn’t understand why you were towing peanut. Another lesson learned at least remove the outboard if you do. Of coarse I am older than you so I also flipped the dinghy with an outboard on a few times. It’s easy to spot a problem developing with experience. Now you have caught up on my mistakes - good save, the outboard and the day!! Makes for a good video drama story! Happy New Year! 🎉SV Skoiern luv
