He's a cool loser guy. He looked at me pissed multiple times when I saw him in Dublin, so he's dead to me. I was in the front row and he looked directly at me when I was the only seated guy at the applause at the end (I'm not going to standing ovation a comic). He also side eyed me during the set. And you were disappointed? Hyenas was ridiculously informative, not as much from the guests but finding guests to come on weekly and know anything at all about history is probably next to impossible. These guys make it look good because that's not the basis of the cast, they just drop em I like lil educational jewels among their already bucket-o-shiny stones of a podcast. Anyway, just wondering why you made it sound like hyenas was somehow lacking in historical information. Not from the guests, again, but yanni and Chrissy dropped mad historical literacy on us atleast 75% of the time on that shit. Rip to the poddywoddy,long live the cast.

You HAVE to read (or listen on audible) “Surprise, Kill, Vanish” by Annie Jacobsen. It’s an absolutely incredible book with the most astounding stories about different operators in Vietnam, with A LOT of just amazing SOG stories. The story of Billy Waugh is just enthralling. Also check out his book “Hunting the Jackal.” Not as good but very interesting still.

Two of the best memoirs I’ve read about Vietnam were Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Whispers in the tall grass. First one has a story with a Green Berets 9 man recon team surround by a division of 10,000-15,000 hardcore NVA. The second is a Hunter S Thompson like depiction of that same recon unit.

The La Drang Valley, where we first put fert on the ground. Turned into a swarm and being sureounded in several positions. Really is an incredible film, and showcases how the pilots of that era were the key to those first hectic battles. Donald Trump often brought up his great admiration for General Patton. When Colin & Shane were discussing Patton’s view of POWs it now makes sense as to why Trump infamously said of McCain, “I like people who weren’t captured”.

Talking about history just needs to be this dude's podcast now. These history podcasts with comedians talking about historical events are awesome. WWI, The Roman empire, the Industrial Revolution, Ancient Egypt, fuck they could even talk about tax reform in 18th century England and they could probably make it funny. The presidents series with Louis was pure gold.
