EP 40 | A Sailor’s WORST Nightmare: Mooring Ball Snaps! 

Thanks for being real that solo docking is hard. I have been reluctant to do it with my new to me 30' sailboat, but am now inspired to just get out and do it since even experienced sailors like you finding it daunting.

Loved the video, yes I would be very upset if I tied up to a mooring buoy and ended up on shore. Hope your rigging replacement goes well without to many surprises.

Very happy to be following another great Canadian Channel. Is there any recourse against Parks Canada if their moorings fail? Happy to hear Parks Canada is addressing the issues you brought to their attention. 🙂 It is disconcerting to say the least to have to trust someone else's equipment for the safety of yours! Glad it worked out for the other boat and that you guys made out ok.

Great video you guys!! Is Tyler going to do any skydiving in Mexico?? We've never used the mooring balls at Sidney Spit since it gets so shallow at low side so getting in there with our draft can be... interesting lol! That said, the last time we anchored there it was gusting 30kts but of course the trade-off of such beautiful white sand on the beach there is pretty amazing. Was awesome to meet you Kaylene at Canoe Cove!! I see you guys and Breaking Waves have cast the lines from there so can't wait to see your continuing adventures!! Really good decision to get the standing rigging replaced. We were demasted this year in the Bahamas. Last year we had everything inspected and the forestay replaced. We should of definitely replaced everything, it would of save us a whole lot of grief.

Buoys ... yeah. Rope instead of chain? Like to know the thinking about that decision.

Best place to go aground tho.
