Young politician Poonam Mahajan, daughter of veteran BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan, has carved a niche for herself in Bharatiya Janata Party. A two-time MP from Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituency, she has held many important positions in the BJP. She is known more as her father's daughter, who in a candid conversation with Smita Prakash talks about her life, vision for her party and her state- Maharashtra. She recalls her entry into politics after her father's horrific murder in 2006 and the legal battle that ensued the killing of her father by his brother. She also hits out at the Congress party, the Gandhi family and Bharat Jodo Yatra. Talking about Maharashtra politics, she explains the history of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and the changed scenario of alliances in the state.

I admire Poonamji as much as I admired Pramodji. She is so mature and sorted. I have no doubt that she would be one of the top leaders in future of India. Also from her interview I realize that each BJP worker has an attitude of a soldier or one can say of a freedom fighter fighting to free India from evil forces, thanks to Modiji.

I remember Poonam Ji's first outburst on TV after her dad's passing. OMG she is totally a different personality now. Though that fire is still hidden behind that soft persona. Poonam Mahajan (born 9 December 1980) is an Indian politician who serves as the Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Mumbai North Central, Constituency, Maharashtra. She is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She has served as the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, from December 2016 to September 2020. Mahajan was the President of the Basketball Federation of India, the first female to hold this position. In addition, she currently serves as Chair of the Maharashtra State Animal Welfare Board.

I used to be an admirer of her father who was a good politician and architect of Shiv Sena - BJP Alliance in Maharashtra. Pramodji was a wellknown wordsmith with quick wit. ' Poonam papa pe gaie kya?' She is quite articulate in expressing her views. Her comments on Sanjy Raut are 'spot on'. He is largely responsible for the bitterness in the relation.
