One year has passed since The Midnight Special uploaded their first video on RU-vid, The Pilot Episode. I love this channel, because it gives us something to feel good about, specially in these hard times. I would like to thank everybody involved for making these historic performances available to us fans. And it's good to know that Mr. Sugarman is doing well, so that he can see how much we appreciate him for being a true trailblazer and a visionary.

From the blue eyed soul of "These Eyes", to the jazz inflected "Undun", to the folk pop hard rock fusion of "No Time",to the riff heavy "American Woman"to the acoustic /heavy Led Zep informed "No Sugar Tonight" the Guess Who had to be one of the most versatile groups of their time. And along with riff meister Randy Bachmann, Burton Cummings with his amazing ability to shift from gritty rock n roll to soulful ballads without skipping a beat - not to mention his R&B /Jerry Lee Lewis style piano playing were key to this criminally underrated band.

I would lean toward the best rock years being from 1964 to 1971. The mid and late70s disco years were horrible. Bands like Aerosmith and Heart were humming along. But a lot from that particular time just doesn't hold up well in my opinion. I had enough of Barry Manilow, Debby Boone and Olivia Newton-John other than If Not for You from 71.

Wow I haven't heard "Space Race" probably in like easily 50 years. I was just about 7 or 8 when I first heard it on my local radio station in NYC. Honestly never knew Billy Preston did the song, but it hardly surprises me whatever he puts out, it's all gold. Martin Mull was hilarious. I never knew he played guitar let alone that well in front of a live audience. This was the earliest version of him I've ever seen before.

💙🎼While others were listening to Beatles & Led Zeppelin, I was loving Guess Who & Zombies! Thank Mama every day for her love of music. Why music is my first love. She bought me my first album, Mary Wells greatest hits, first album I bought with my own money Gerry and the pacemakers, mama loved a variety of music Nat King Cole Peggy Lee, Brazil 66, etc. Love & miss her. She let me take her console stereo to college. Girls in my dorm would come to my door and ask me who was playing . Our entire family grew up, loving music . 🎼💙🎼💙Burton Cummings is king! 💙🎼💙🎼💙🎼💙🎼💙🎼

She’s Come Undun, I sure did when seeing the gorgeous music man Kenny Loggins in concert ‘78 solo w/o Messina though, darn it. Can still picture him wearing very tight green stretch pants um-hum, yummy he put on a great show. Can his long hair be any more fabulous here? I don’t think so. Have their ‘76 album “Native Sons” at my “happy place” in the mountains w/o Wi-Fi, one of the songs on it has the sound of a “crackling fire” it reminds me of the wood burning heat stove there, it’s an “ambience” song as the band is dressed up in old west style cowboy outfits on the sleeves/cover. Giddy UP!! 🎶🐴❤️ When Leo Kottke plays the guitar, he always amazes as he and his instrument seem to become fused together as “one”, a genius, wearing that slide on his pinky finger. Wow! Enjoyed the “American Graffiti” movie scene with Richard Dreyfus, one of my favorite films, seems like ‘73 was just yesterday, doesn’t it?

Are you the Wolfman ? Naw Pushes the play button of a tape recording and says The Wolfman is everywhere. I remember Curt walking out of the studio and hearing The Wolfman talking to his listeners through the building’s intercom and Curt looks back at the Wolfman through the window and looks in amazement. I agree it’s one of my favs. It’s such an iconic movie. George Lucas was on his game along with all the actors and actresses involved with American Graffiti.

@@curtisphilumalee1447 I need to watch it again as I cant remember most of it, it’s been much too long ago. Can’t believe I don’t have the dvd, loved all of the cool cars and the racing scene with an “unknown” actor, cowboy hat wearing Harrison Ford…giddy up! That ‘1932 bright yellow Ford Standard Coupe sure stood out, just read that it’s known as Milner’s Coupe. Reminds me of the red one in ZZ Top bands videos. Vroooom 💨 Vroooom💨💨💨

Great memories, great musicians, Burton Cummings' voice is incredible still o this day! Less than a year later got to see Billy Preston, Grand Funk Railroad and Leon Russell at the Airman's Club at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, solidified for me what I was going to do when Uncle Sam was done with me.....and got to meet and work with so many of my musical heroes over the years in Nashville.

Saw Jim Messina two years ago in a real small intimate venue. It was one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve been to in quite some time. He and his band sounded great and his sharing of stories made for a great evening. My only wish was that his pal Kenny Loggins was there with him.

My neighbor knew him as Uncle Burton growing up. Said that his grandma had a summer cottage just down the road from him and he often came over for drinks and to strum his guitar. Somewhere in Ontario. He says that she knew he had a band but she didn't really like them. 😅 Anyways, he went to a Burton Cummings concert years later and couldn't believe that it was "Uncle" Burton on the stage. "Hey! That's Uncle Burton!" 30 years later he still had that excitement in his voice when he relayed his story to me. Anyways, just thought I'd share this little story of my neighbor's grandma and her drinking buddy. Cheers.
