This is one of the best bike reviews I have ever seen. No marketing BS, just an honest straightforward and very thorough evaluation. As for the ride quality of Ti, the guy over at Peak Torque channel (not sure his name) is an engineer and he has a video where he explains in engineering terms why Ti does not (and logically can not) have a "better ride quality" than any other frame material. The ride quality will be a function of wheel and tire choice as well as frame build (geometry) not the material of the tubing itself. Ti has very many benefits over other frame materials, but it does not offer an inherently better ride quality. I won't ride anything else any more but that is more a function of the beauty and durability of the material.

Great video! Hope Lynskey makes a model with an internal cable headset, i know a polarizing topic but so aesthetically pleasing!

Great review, man. I've had a Helix Pro for 3 years now. I do enjoy it. I also recently both an sworks aethos, which is a huge difference. Much more nimble. But you hit it on the head. There's just something different about my Lynskey. I'll tell you for sure descending on that Lynskey is the best. So solid. Will ride it forever.

Beautiful job, DC. You continue to be one of my favorite channels. Love the Enve 4.5 SES wheels. I bought a pair five months ago based on your recommendation. I had several close calls in Crosswinds with the Zipp 303S. I’ve had the Enve 4.5 wheels out in 20 mph Direct Crosswinds and they are very stable. I feel very safe on them and they’re extremely fast. And thanks again for your wisdom several weeks back with the R5 and Caledonia. I ended up ordering a Colnago C68 direct from Italy. Should be here around Christmas time. Take care brother. See you next time.

Thank you for spending time watching me ramble on! I've moved my 303s onto my gravel bike due to the crosswind protection issue. CONGRATS on that 'nago.

It’s nice, but it’s not a No. 22. Of course, those bikes start at 6k for just the frameset.💸

This is a great review. I often use the same analogy - comparing a bike to a certain car. For instance my Surly Straggler set up with 26 x 1.95" tires is a Jeep Wrangler.

Nice bike and review. I have a Litespeed T1SL which has a 6/4 shaped top tube so is very comparable Ultegra Di2 and also about 20# in size large. I have the Ti seatpost and Nox carbon rims on i9 hubs (keeping it local with TN and Asheville, NC parts and bling). Litespeed is super competitive with pricing these days (mine was $5,500 pre Covid though not with those wheels). Good ride quality as you would expect though the welds arent quite the work of art in the old days. Regards Titanium ride I agree and don’t find it is magically superior to modern carbon. That said I don’t think about it while riding which is a good thing - it is also solid feeling and quiet. Ti’s reputation was established back in the ‘90’s back when everything else was steel or harsh aluminum and all round tubes making Ti stand out.

The 2 Litespeeds I used to ride, they were absolutely superb...

Hello my friend! As always, another fantastic review! One of the things that I appreciate about your reviews is that I always feel that I am getting a 'real' review from a true cyclists approach and not someone who has just ridden the bike for 20 minutes and is reading the manufacturers marketing sheet! I will always learn more about a bike by chatting with a friend who owns and rides it vs. listening to a sales pitch! While I have never owned a Ti bike, I have always had the thought in my mind that titanium may be the best combination of price, performance, etc. I believe this would be especially true if you went down the road of a truly custom frame build, which many Ti manufacturers are doing now. Like you, it is not hard for me to imagine having that perfectly appointed Ti bike being the 'forever' bike. One specific item that I was stuck with in your review was the incredible value that a bike like this may bring. In the cycling world today everyone is freaking-out about how expensive things are (with good reason). I just checked the Lynskey site and the R500 w/the Ultegra Di2 build is at about $5,800 right now (with standard options). It would seem to me like you are getting a lot of bike without much sacrifice at that price point. Finally, each time I watch one of your videos I come away thinking that we may have been born with the same brain and separated at birth...I just switched to the Selle Italia SLR Boost saddle. I set one up for my indoor/trainer bike and after 1 ride I ordered one for my Pinarello Prince. Thanks for the continue great content...always a fan!

I suspect if you had all of your components moved to, say a Cervelo S5, I bet your Ti will be smoother. Another thing we have to think about is how the Ti tubes are shaped. Those shapes are much stiffer than round tubes. Despite all of that, this bike is absolutely beautiful and I'd love to ride it. I'm in the early stages of getting a custom Ti bike and I want to run 32s on it because I like how wider tires smooth out the ride. Are they a little slower to spin up? Of course, but I'll take that trade off everyday on the roads I usually ride. P.S. You mentioned Porsche Panamera. That's funny because I've been thinking of getting one of those too.

Can get a GR Pro, which is the gravel version of this frame, with a mullet (Axis/GX Eagle) AXS for $3,800 right now. It is either this bike or the Lauf Seigla. I wish I knew how the Lynskey will ride. I cannot test ride the Lauf either, but I have ridden quite a few carbon gravel bikes, so I am guessing it is not vastly different.

I just like to add that i am a fan of the lynskey bikes, currently have 3 models from them. Been trying to figure out if its worth getting their 6/4 frameset. Having the helix pro as the closest comparison ive always wandered if the r500 is noticeably stiffer. As someone whose not light I have preference to stiffer frames. All 3 frames have performed great and have no complaints. They feel like a robust tank. Now I also have 2 other titanium bikes thats higher on the price point but i feel the price doesnt really reflect quality in terms of ride character. The lynskey especially my Backroad (touring bike) is the smoothest and most comfortable bike ive ridden without feeling like a noodle. I'll wait to see the sales this coming december and maybe pull the trigger on an r500 or pro gr.
@DiabeticCycling

3!!! I suspect they will put R500 on some kind of a clearance to introduce a replacement model. If the price is right, ya know what to do~~~ :)

Few years ago, I seen a few casual riders showing up with Ti bikes and I just thought they are just old school amateur riders not willing to spend $$$ for carbon bikes. I feel totally opposite now.. I am currently shopping for one as a travel bike replacing one of my line up 'allez sprint', but both Litespeed and Lynskey are still out of my budget with full build. I do know the bike is going to last a lifetime with the durability. Side comment here.. If the Tarmac SL7 is a 911, it would be difficult to imagine myself opting a porsche panamera over a 911.. I like the CTS-V analogy better

Only thing I can say is the only metal bike I've actually seen fail without crashing was a Lynskey. Can't trust it since seeing that happen to a friend's bike and how they treated him. I'll always look at English, Rocklobster, Spooky, Merlin, No. 22, Baum, Firefly/Independent Fab, Moots, Stinner, Sturdy first for metal bikes (amongst some others I'm forgetting). Of course you're going to fork out more $$ most likely
