Dude, when I hear stories like this it makes me so happy that I got out of the LE/Corrections career field. So many dudes get thrown under the bus and it sucks.

5 years ago we would only hear about this in a third world county. Now we hear about this in the US more and more. As a non American, it’s concerning to see. Strong guy, solid morals - model brother.

I’m a part of this machine admittedly. I work in corrections(not a CO). But you learn to empathize with people in these situations because innocent people can and do get crushed by this system of ours. If an innocent cop can get crushed by it, then anyone can and does. This idea that everyone gets a fair trial is a fairy tale. Especially for people without financial resources. There’s a lot of people doing time off plea deals purely off the fact they weren’t willing to roll the dice and go to trial. People should really ask themselves what they would do in that situation. Take a plea for 5 or risk a 25 to life even if you know you’re not guilty.

You guys should let some of your interviews run longer if it won't interfere with your other businesses and if the guest has the time. Like how Shawn Ryan's podcast he does 4 hour interviews with some people if the conversation goes that long. This guy and his story are both very interesting and it sucks that he seemed to have a lot more to say but you guys ran short on time. Otherwise love this podcast and have been catching up on all the older episodes since finding you. Going to joun patreon today as well.

Man I did that Job from age 20 to 48 and retired. No way I would do that career in todays world. It’s like going to work everyday with one foot in the jail cell for 65 to 70 a year.
@DortonFarb
@DortonFarb 5 месяцев назад
65-70K a year? As a patrol officer, I've earned over $100K in four months and $250K in nine months. I was on track for a $335K year, but I retired nine months into 2019. And that's nothing- Oakland patrol officer Malcolm Miller earned over $640K in 2019.

I think the problem with policing is really the same as problem as just being good joe blow citizen, and that's because the political and judicial system is rife with people that think the crook is the only person with rights. In this day in age if a thief slipped on my stairs because I didn't shovel snow on my stairs the crook would get a booked and let loose and proceed to win a civil suit against me for not maintaining my stairs.

He said the dude was 6' 4" and big charging at him. He got tunnel vision because of the threat. He fired six times, striking him once through the chest, through the spine. He fell backwards??? Maybe he misspoke. Never identifies himself? Hell I'm just armchair quarterbacking this thing! They weren't model citizens!! Fire away cowboy!!
@how-i-roll-rb5796
@how-i-roll-rb5796 6 месяцев назад
@jasonr9433 Yes most classes, text books, & or most sop's/sog's say your supposed to ID yourself if in plain clothes or off duty but here is the thing he had milliseconds to seconds to react (those people who wrote or taught that weren't in that situation straight up none of us were & you can teach not have sop for everything), but you have 2 already aggressive male subjects one trying to flank him & one charging him (even though he didn't recall what he was wearing I do wonder if his brain processed it as a potential banger and potential threat. Our minds can process things that we might not it's like why they use Labs often for say bomb detection bc most people aren't going to react as what their doing but if they had a GS or Mal before you even think it's a Leo your already aware & everyone's brains can do this with many things) and if I remember correctly his hands were at his waistband (which any Leo will tell you anyone running holding or fiddling with there waistband area most of the times they have a weapon, drugs or something but usually a weapon bc they don't know how to discreetly CCW. Like I mentioned he had milliseconds to seconds to react if I remember correctly he said that he fired 6rds before he stopped & the second suspect acted in a way or took a position like he potentially was going to start shooting, I don't know what he was carrying or if he had a backup mag(I talk to may CCW/LTC holders and alot don't carry a spare mag nor inspect their gear so like I have a RMR & light every 6m I change the batteries & I always check both before I leave) but still alot of Leo's are taught if your life is in danger retreat to a safe position and call for backup which is what he did The only thing I kind of wondered & not arm chairing bc my background is different & what I would & have done is different. Is when he recognized they were following him I am not leading them back to my house & I am calling 911 but my training & background is different & have be followed by people bc of road rage(or turned out to be but at time I didn't know & from past jobs I do check my mirrors)and did get spoken to how I handled them luckily I didn't end up in situation like this guy did. But he mentioned that same suspect did same thing to some civilians think he mentioned after his trial but they had already called 911. What I got spoken to for & I get the dangerous of it(I didn't wait for local Leo's, but I would & have done it again because even though different job at one time it's how I was trained and in stressful situations most trained people fall back to their training. But in most cases if you think your being followed usually dispatch directs you either to the PD or where you can meet up or be intercepted by Leo's.

The only place that a cop will be in jail is protective custody that bullshit of what you would have become line is act tuff line because you can't fight 3 4 5 people at a time hell most the time it takes at least 2 cops to arrest someone but the only thing you would have done in jail is try for no one to know who you really are because there would be a line of people volunteering to poke you up and send you to the upper room because your a cop so you would have been the rabbit being chased by a dogs with no where to tun
