You guys are nuts. Holmes beat Weaver, Cooney, Norton, Shavers (twice), Witherspoon, Mercer... He held the title longer and defended it more times than anyone except for Joe Louis. Definitely top three of all time. Possibly top two. Also, you seem to be downgrading Frazier. There is NOBODY Marciano beat who Frazier could not have beaten (when they fought Marciano... Louis, Walcott, and Charles were all on the down side of their careers when they faced Marciano) and Marciano was small. Frazier would have owned him. People criticize Frazier because he had four losses on his record, but those losses were against Ali and Foreman. There is no shame in that.

Not to forget he won actually the second fight against Spinks and as a old man he gave Holyfield a very hard time. He almost won against McCall (a beast in my opinion) at the age of 44. Lewis had even in the second McCall Fight a lot of problems until McCall starts crying). Unbelievable to put Lewis over Holmes.

@@Chris-qu2wy Not sure I would put Lewis over Holmes, but I certainly respect and understand that opinion. My own personal all time top 10 would be: 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Holmes 4. Liston 5. Johnson 6. Lewis 7. Tyson (with Cus) 8. Dempsey 9. Frazier 10. Jeffries Sorry… I always thought that Holyfield and Marciano were over rated and that Foreman was too limited.

Larry Holmes should have been higher. I would have put him in the S Lewis I would have at A. I think you could have had 2 Forman also young and old. I think old Forman had better skills and ring awareness. Great video Tre and Sam thank you!

My list would be: S tier: Larry Holmes Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston. A tier: Floyd Patterson, Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Ken Norton. B tier: Riddick Bowe and Evander Holyfield. C tier: Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis, Michael Moorer, David Tua, Mike Tyson (prime or post jail) and Tyson Fury. D tier: Eric butterbean and Deontay Wilder

You have split Tyson in to 2 parts, that is so bad. That makes the List unserios. Lewis didn't fight prime Holyfield (far away from prime!), prime Tyson (far away from prime!) or Bowe (for whatever reason). His career lacks the big fights and he is the only (maybe even Marciano) one where this is the case. 2 Fighs against Holyfield witch was a old (!) and smaller man and he couldn't hurt him really. The second Fight was close by the way. I still like what you guys do. 😀 Thank you and keep going!

This is fun. I like most of your explanations. This was hard to just give a letter grade without adding a + or - . My biggest disagreements, first, I think Moorer is a C because of the Foreman loss, he did beat Holyfield but Evander had a heart condition in which Teddy Atlas knew and even told Moorer to take advantage. Also Tua KOd Double M and Moorer just looks like the odd man at the B Class. Second...Sam....Sam...Sam..... LARRY HOLMES IS A C 😅! Holmes is so underrated and disrespected. He is arguably a top 4 greatest heavyweight of all time. His jab, his record, his boxing lesson for Mericiless Ray Mercer. He beat Shavers twice, Cooney, Norton, Berbick. He was kind of robbed by Michael Spinks. Larry is a solid A bro. But as always, you two make great content.
@thestickandmovepodcast
@thestickandmovepodcast 2 месяца назад
Brother, Love your analysis! Yes Tua was certainly a FUN character in boxing history, and he was no slouch in the heavyweight division. As far as Larry Holmes, looking back we both agree we had him too low.

Norton was given the WBC belt when Leon Spinks chose to grant Ali a rematch rather than fight him as the No. 1 contender.

@@yotamdude5866 I was just responding to Tre trying to think of exactly how Norton was given the title. I agree with you. In fact imo Norton beating Leon Spinks would have been less impressive than his near miss against Larry Holmes historically especially as Holmes, rightfully in my view, has moved up the HW historical rankings substantially.
