What even is this? Of course hamsters can fall into water? It's actually super dangerous if the hamster doesn't something to climb out of

Yes I was just coming to say this. hamsters can get sick very easily if they get wet and their body temperature drops. there should probably be more rocks than water so then he can drink without getting wet at all.

@@SassyShelly I would 100% agree, I think the decision to make a pond in the cage was pretty controversial and not really the best thing. Yeah, more rocks than water would be a safer route to go. I get that @HamsterLAB is trying to make their hamster's enclosure as natural as possible. But we need to consider that domestic hamsters, are, well, domesticated. They are pets and as owners we need to limit accidents and keep them happy and healthy by not putting potentially dangerous items in the cage. It's not good to "chance it". :) And lol, coming back to this comment I realize how many likes it has 😂. Most likes I've gotten so far haha!

애초에 흙 입장에서는 비료나 마찬가지인데 딱히 안해줄듯 흙냄새에 묻혀서 냄새도 안 날테고

Also the cage is too small and I think it's not deep enough. (Cage size does depend on what the individual hamster wants/needs but there are cage sizes that are below cage requirements for that species).

I dont think the master will get sick b ecuase it mimics its natural environment and if it does there are people to treat it!

@taliamaghanga the problem is the size mainly, it may look natural but the hamster can't behave naturally as there isn't enough burrowing space, they don't usually live that close to water. Over 6 inches of burrowing is required as well as a much longer and wider enclosure.

If the water is cold and there is no one to dry them, the chance of them dying is high, either due to heat loss or because they have dense coats, which causes the hair to dry out a lot naturally, often not even drying properly. This causes fungus and skin problems that eventually kill them. In the wild, they avoid getting wet and only enter the water if it is a very urgent case to save themselves from predators

@@globe1987 yea exactly they can SIPPP in puddles of water. the chances of them falling in are slim and getting out shouldn't be a problem.

The cage is meant to imitate nature, they have water in nature. 🤷

They definitely can't swim well and shouldn't, it can be very dangerous for them to get wet

Hamsters naturally live in environments that get sudden and heavy rains. He’s an animal not a baby and is perfectly capable of getting a drink without getting his whole body wet. He lives in soil which is how wild hamsters dry themselves off if they get caught on a down pour. He does need rocks to escape if he falls in, but he will be fine. Most pet hamsters get sick after getting wet because of their environment, not solely because they got wet. Typical hamster cages don’t allow them to dry off quickly and typically already caused them to have poor lungs, while a natural hamster cage is full of absorbing materials

Technically in the wild hamsters drink from way bigger ponds/puddles.

Hamsters can swim very well, and fast if they have to. On top of that they are not soaked immediately as their fur is a little bit oily.
