You know about these old radios there is a company (or maybe several) that transform them into modern radios. (And maybe even CD players or something) Very cool. Some of these radios are beautiful.

1:50 My cat would absolutely adore a Duchesse Brisee! Now that I know the name I'll keep my eyes out for one. The brocantes and auction houses are so fun to explore. It's not even necessary to buy stuff. It's just fun to see all the beautiful old things.

Ahhh who doesn't love a good rainstorm (except getting caught in one I agree) but while sitting comfy in your home -- the best! I really loved the pedestal bowl with blue flowers, that was just gorgeous.

Try the (free) French websoite Le Bon Coin. It is enormous and you'll be able to furnish your house well and very cheaply. You will need some basic French, though.

10:30 I'm an American living in France. For some of your American viewers who may not know, most bedrooms in France have no closet. People are expected to use their own armoires. Of course you can find beautiful antique examples like this one. But also places like IKEA sell the modern version with all the variations in ways to kit them out with drawers, shelves, and rods. It may seem strange not to have a built in closet but it has its advantages. For one thing, you're not tied into having the closet in one spot in the room. You can rearrange your closet just as you rearrange your other furniture.

Loved the shots in Tresors. (We’re about 30 min from Amboise and a few of our rooms are furnished from there). If you make the ride to Blere, there are two emmaus like stores within blocks of each other you’d love the variety (Main Ouverte & La Boit d’a cote)

Visited that area 5 years ago and loved it. Have you any thoughts about how French people view expats moving to their country? I thought long and hard about such a move but decided not for me right now - living vicariously through you folks. Good luck.

I so enjoyed the variety of your post. I live in Oklahoma, my maternal roots are from France, so I have a special heart for the country. Two years ago I spent a month in Paris and took several tours. One was to three castles in the Loire Valley. I fell in love with the Amboise, but there wasn't enough time to explore the city and swore I would return someday. I can envision riding along the river, lunch in a cafe, etc., like you did. Thank you for sharing all those moments. Nice chairs - love a good (and cheap) divan! Are you guys across the river from the chateau or on the same side? My friend and I wondered about living on that side when we visited last summer. Watch out for those gnat swarms by the river in June!

Which side of the river do you live on? Looks like the right bank to me according to the architecture of your house, a bit like in Blois

Loved your bike tour of some of Amboise. (Roads have less pot holes than in the UK!). It would be great to see more by bike. Is there an EMMAUS nearby? Great treasure troves.

Thanks to your videos I am making Amboise the second stop on my personal ‘tour de France’ maybe I’ll run into you while I am there in September! Looks like a great sized town. Have you met other Americans there? An ebike sounds like a great way to get around but i haven’t been on a bike in more than 30 years. We may have to test the old adage 😉
