Have you been to Casey, IL? Lots of “world’s biggest” attractions. If you ever find yourself passing through on I-70, it would be worth a 1-2 hour stop. Free two hour parking along the street and you can walk to all the attractions. I’m currently working on a video from our western trip that includes a stop there. I’m a very slow editor though. 😎
Debbie, I have to share this with you and John, I think you will get a kick out of it, I sure did. I watched a gal in Denmark and her 4 year old nephew said, Great things are happening in the US. She asked, What are they? He said, You get ice cream every day in the US. She replies, Then why aren't we in the US? 🍧
Oh, the storms and tornados that we have been in, thank god for WX apps compared to the early days of traveling in the Midwest….Ah, the corny Corn Palace, glad you got ice cream 🍦 and a picture with the corn cob! New nickname for John, Catfish Cook! Next cross country trip I-94, Exit 72, has a massive art exhibit and you can take a 30+ mile ride and see more giant art exhibits, Enchanted Highway. Thanks for the adventure!
Great video!! I can't wait to retire and take extended road trips like you all do. Thanks for sharing your experiences and the interesting stops with all of us. On the topic of the circus, if you haven't been to the Ringling Museum and Ca' d'Zan located in Sarasota, FL yet, I highly recommend it. The circus museum tells the story (with fascinating miniature replicas) of the military like precision they used to move from place to place as well as many other historical aspects. The story behind the creation of the miniature displays is also very interesting. And if those examples aren't enough to entice you, then you should go because "Ca' d'Zan" means "House of John" in Venetian. This place is screaming "Debbie and John come for a visit!" ;) I have no affiliation with this museum - I'm just an enthusiastic past visitor.
Thank you so much for all your videos Debbie and John, we enjoy your adventures and passion for ice cream. We are seeking a new bike rack and curious to know what model and make you are using? (The welds on our Thule broke) Thank you in advance for all the research you do. 🚲Safe travels. 🚐
We have had lots of bike racks over our lifetime and the 1Up brand has been the best. However you need to order based on the weight and style of your bike. If you have fenders, they won’t work with the rack we have.
Thank you for the upload and appreciate you for taking the time to shoot, edit and put together such a nice travelog. Great work. The upper mid-west is so beautiful. Safe travels!
Surprising number of people at the steer manure & ditchwater campground! I love the obscure stops. The amount of skill, work & creativity changing the corn palace every year is impressive! Continued fun & safe travels you two.
Another enjoyable video. Quick question on your old Rad bikes; did you ever have any trouble with the power assist cutting out? I have one just like you used to have less than 1800 miles always garaged and the power assist just stopped two weeks ago. The local Rad bike shop is replacing one expensive part after another with no results. I told him when he called this week wanting to buy the entire motor assembly that he was going to own the bike if he wanted to charge anymore for parts and labor. My Rad Bike was great until it suddenly wasn't. Is that why you switched your bikes out?
No, we never had an issue like that. John still has his old Rad but I sold mine to our neighbor. We got new bikes because we wanted Class 1 bikes, lighter bikes, and a better fitting bike for John.
The world's largest catfish and the giant otter remind me of the "Big Things" scattered across Australia. Totally local, totally kitschy, and totally cool! Great video!
I’ve started using that Thermocell to keep mosquitoes away. Works pretty well. If u are ever near Paducah , KY. Their quilt museum ($5) and their riverside areas with several murals; are fabulous. Safe travels
As you drive through Ohio, consider stopping in Warren to see the world largest drum stick. They were designed and installed to commemorate the birthplace of David Grohl. Enjoying watching your trip East.
When I was a child going on family vacations, my Dad would hardly ever stop at roadside attractions. I guess it rubbed off on me because I tend to just go past stuff. I'm in my late 60's now, it might be time to slow down and make some stops along the way, It appears I might be missing some interesting stuff.
If John loves catfish, then Lake Livingston, TX is your stop - a 55 pounder was caught off Outlaw Ridge peninsula and below the dam is Gar Fish. Also the new I-14 (US190) will eventually run through east Texas bucolic towns.
@@FromShetoMe Wow - my PW cab seats look really different from yours. Mine match the sofa in the back, and are somewhat too cushy. I assumed you had upgraded yours with Scheel Mann seats! Apologies!
