Prime Minister Modi and President Xi came face to face at the BRICS summit at Johannesburg last week, but there was no bilateral meeting scheduled. The freeze remains. Pakistan could not get into the grouping though it had China’s backing. Battling economic crisis and political instability Pakistan has been offered respite from UAE which has decided to invest in assets of Pakistan. But there are going to be strings attached this time. Former Indian Ambassador to China who has also served as Indian high commissioner to Pakistan Gautam Bambawale and C. Raja Mohan, senior fellow at Asia Society Policy Institute explain China and UAE’s relationship with Pakistan and where the US fits into this new jigsaw puzzle. Watch or listen in to this edition of ANI podcast with Smita Prakash, to understand how these new developments will affect geopolitics in the Indo-pacific region. During the conversation the experts analyse different aspects of the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the violent attacks in Balochistan. The panel also discusses "Gulf Route to Pakistan” a paper authored by Raja Mohan which provides deep insights on the economic affairs of Pakistan and how Pak Army has now decided to get UAE to bail them out. The panel also talks about Imran Khan’s arrest, protest against Pak Army, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and India’s growing stature in the world stages with Pakistan losing its importance in West as well as China.

Why our aim is not uplifting lives and standards of living? Percapita and gdp improves as a result. Still millions of poor children are out of schools. We must screen programmes for them. In huge halls..so they know facts.Geopolitics. science basics. They are aware of the world. After letters and counting,this geopolitical education is important

@@induchopra3014Educating millions is easier said than done. First the govt should get the education policy right, the new education policy is a shit show. New methods of teaching and a whole new brass of teachers and create a more comprehensive practical oriented education plan. Ideally, a highschool graduate should be able to work in any field or run a small scale business but that’s not happening now. Focus more on skill development. Right now even some of the engineering graduates don’t know the basics of this. My synopsis is without the right education, education people is a waste of time. Without jobs in place, educating people and keeping them jobless results in riots. Once India moves to manufacturing we need a very high population of medium skilled tech workers who can solder, repair and put devices together.

An excellent discussion! Raja Mohan Gandhi is just amazing! The Pakistanis were told that India was abysmally poor and weak while Pakistan was shining like a star high in the sky. It is dawning on these Pakistanis that India has gone so far ahead that Pakistan can never catch up. Who is to blame? Obviously, the Army, as they were the ones who claimed credit for every thing happening in that Country.

I am shaking my head in disbelief listening to Sri Bambawale's comments regarding the possibility of trading with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; expected something way better from a person who has served as Indian High Commisioner in IRP. Even when IRP was weak, it has never failed to cause harm to India. Only when it is really down on the mat, as it is now, will it reduce (on a relative scale) its interferene. If we make the mistake of resuming trade, which in turn will help IRP towards getting back on its feet, it will ratchet up sharply its attacks on India. Hence, if we care about our safety and security, we should not do even the littlest of things that is likely to help it. If we haven't learnt this lesson even after decades, centruries, and millennia of dealing with "the religion of peace(!)", then we'll have only ourselves to blame. Sushant Sareen is one of the few people who really understands IRP. Just blindly follow Sushant's advice to the letter as far as IRP is concerned. Never ever ever ever help IRP, unless you want the kiss of death.

Just having a profession is lower middle class aspiration now. Indians are ready to have higher income. They dream of western standards. Want latest in home decor. This creates huge potential for everyone. Archetects, designers, decorators,auto, businesses. Just being 4rth or 3rd largest economy is meaningless if our life style doesnot improve

I feel Gen Bajwa played the same game in 2021 which Bhutto played in !972. Pakistan was able to get a cease fire when they were really hard pressed to find means to sustain the cross border firing. We have provided them breathing space to recover. Whereas we should put pressure on them and make them totally bankrupt.

As someone who began his career repairing IBM junk,I can tell you it was the best decision they took.IBM's departure gave birth to many new Indian companies -ORG,CMC,CMS,HCL etc."Mini " computer companies such as Wang,Data General,Prime etc made computing more affordable .Subsequently the arrival of the IBM PC,soon made by many Taiwanese companies,the Windows Operating System by Microsoft,-all these enable India to move ahead.Rajiv Gandhi's open attitude to computerisation (inspite of dire warnings by the usual naysayers -CPI/CPM etc also helped.

Havnt we been talking to pak for the last 75 yrs? What has it yielded? Are they ever planning to give us a route to Iran and central asia and middle east? No that would never happen. Literally since we stopped talking with pak where have we lost business or has it impacted us negatively? None at all. Let things be. Once pak grinds itself down we can pick up the pieces that we like and leave the rest to rot. After all keeping thr cancer out of the main body is wise no?

As a Pakistani it’s refreshing to see unbiased opinions from the other side, likes of Arnab have really blurred the media scene but this podcast was soo on point. We are fighting for our rights and democracy here , we don’t like being a security state. ps. Khan was never against dialogue he just wanted what’s best for Pakistan, after all Kartarpur Corridor is a testament to his commitment.

@sankalp3513 its not about guest been uncomfortable but interruption is the issue here ... ANI Podcast is all about hard question and detail answers ... and details need time. Interrupting and jumping to other question demeaning the whole purpose.
@vanshsapkal2826
@vanshsapkal2826 8 месяцев назад
@@nitinjain1605 She has her own time limits dude... She has to finish that slot of the subject within the time frame. As a result of which she sometimes interrupts guests to get onto the main topic because while having detail and high level conversation like this any individual would hit too many cords so one has to get the guests in sync with issue instead of letting them afloat with it... For Me... Personally... She is the Most Well Read Podcaster in the RU-vid Ecosystem as far as Geopolitics and Current Affairs is concerned... She has that Gravitas in her.

Perfect analysis. Being Pakistani, I can easily say there is a strong realisation among the common people of Pakistan that they have been fooled for 70 years. And the way india has emerged in recent decade has also played a great role in this realisation because its quite clear that we are far left behind.

Smita mam , you are emotional sometimes while talking about Pakistan and China matters.. Emotional in the sense over enthusiastic ,for eg: while you discussed about China border issue with Dr Jai shankar foreign minister (china had attacked us why India can't, then Jaishankar sir then said calm down Smita there were bilateral agreements between us like that stuff) .This podcast is very knowledgeable to the students who are in political studies and upsc aspirants.. 1.Jaishankar 2.Annamalai 3.former china ambassador and senior fellow.
