You might forget to take your statin because the drug causes memory loss. Just sayin.

Statins, being the most prescribed drug in the world and their effectiveness now being in question, patients have a right to make the final decisions about their own health.

Our bodies makes cholesterol because we need it so why block it with statins? Its better to make a lifestyle change.

Doctors should help make life style changes but no they dont! They want us to swallow the toxic chemicals, therefore we become consumers of the pharmaceutical companies!

Doc you are asking patients to include yourself and other doctors in the decision to stop taking meds but you and many of your colleagues are unconvincing regarding the benefits, let alone benefit versus risk. Many patients (me included) have come to the point of not trusting the medical industry. The truth changes and has totally changed during my lifetime for many things. I believe that is the case for cardio vascular disease causes. You did not mention one word about doctors not following "standards of care" or what is a healthy diet. I find it totally shocking that the medical community is not in sync on these matters. The guidance provided to the public from the government, food industry and medical community has clearly failed. Don't you agree? You need to expect even more active and passive push back . Thanks for making this video.

Maybe they looked at the cost/benefit ratio and figured that living another 5 days with statins wasn't worth the side effects - muscle pain, Type 2 diabetes, increased risk of dementia.

that's what I am concerned about.

A lot of GPs (here in the UK) do not keep up to speed with the current changes in food science and just go by what ever flow chart that the NHS sends them instead of really deep diving into the bigger picture. Also getting a face to face appointment is now so difficult if not impossible GPs are still hiding behind the Covid scare to not see patients face to face. I have come to the conclusion GPs are only interested in what is best for them. All our GPs in my local practice only do a three day week yet want more money!!!. They virtually have NO understanding of what preventive diet changes can have a dramatic effect on a patients health. I took charge of my own health issues and turned around my metabolic health markers. I was advised by my GP NOT to do a keto diet when the NHS diet recommendation by her had failed over 18 months of trying a low fat diet. I went clean keto and in 9 months lost 50 Lbs all against my GPs advise. I have asked for HOMA-IR test but was refused and had to go private, yet testing for IR is crucial for a lot of metabolic syndrome dieses. If GPs want us patients to talk to them, then get back in the surgeries and start talking face to face. I have found the internet to a far more reliable source of information as to how to turn around my health. GP's should stop blaming the patients going on line when they cant be bothered to get up to speed on preventive dietary solutions and only want to give you ten minutes and send you on your way with a pill.

I was prescribed Rosuvastatin by a 30 year old PA. Im 67, active, healthy, not overweight and had BOTH high HDL and LDL. After two days I had brain fog and nausea. I’m sure the PA was well intentioned, and has her reasons for prescribing. But- is my body telling me something with these side effects? Think I will take my chances, ( not take it) and cut back a bit on sugar ... what I won’t quit, is my happy hour whiskey.

You did well, I had to stop after 4 days. I had such unbelievably bad side effects. One of my great great grandfathers was born in 1794 and died in 1884 and was working on a farm up to two years before he died age 90. I’m pretty sure he never had 1 statin. So this obsession of giving people drugs needs to stop.

Dr. Bishop never addressed the issue of stopping a statin once a patient has begun taking one will put them at a higher risk of a heart attack than if they never began taking one in the first place. His theory works only under the assumption that taking statins is beneficial in the first place, in which case they will be bound to lose out if they quit taking them.
