No locks this week, just a swell considering the amount of icecream from Frederick's Icecream Parlour.
The warm weather has seen a huge explosion in the amount of weed on the canal. Floating Pennywort is the biggest problem forming huge rafts of the stuff all across the canal. Being a non native species it has no natural control. I have tried dragging clumps out of the water but it is extremely heavy.

You must have past Bridge 71 Rawlinson Bridge, Many years ago when the boatyard was L&L cruisers I supplied them with a lot of fuses they had a hireboat that was that low in the water they nicknamed it the submarine ,great vlog as usual Steve. 😊😊

I actually stopped just after the bridge to get some supplies from the shop there. I was going to get diesel from the boatyard until I saw their price. Some boats do lie low in the water. I would worry about the outlets becoming inlets. 🤣

Funny ol vlog that one,spent the time just staring at the canal and the Pennywort,so didnt notice any canalside scenery,enjoyed it,but will have to watch again to see if I missed anything .Like you Steve was concentrating on the weed

It's a lovely run towards Wigan. Haigh Hall has a large adventure area for children including two high rope walks.

I don't know if our (in Canada) Kestrels are the same as those in Great Britain but a family of them is always present in a tall pine tree across the street from where I live. The problem is that we have crows that also fancy that tree as well. The aerial dogfights are interesting to watch, They were once referred to as "sparrowhawks' due to their diminutive size. Very fiesty little birds and lightning fast.

I usually see Kestrels solo hunting for ground animal like mice & voles. The hover like the one in the vlog . Sparrowhawks in the UK are slightly larger and tend to hunt by diving at smaller birds in hedgerows
