Laura is a detransitioned woman who socially transitioned in 1999 at the age of 15, and began medical transition in 2001. She detransitioned in 2005. In recent years, after discovering Blanchard's typology, Laura realized she had the female equivalent of autogynephilia, autoandrophilia, and now understands that was the motivation for her transition.

Such an interesting topic to learn about, I’d never heard of AGP until wading into the waters of transition because of my own child. Thank for being brave enough to share Laura!

I am SO GRATEFUL to you for this channel and for having these discussions. I am an addictions counselor working with opiate addicted individuals and have been thinking for months now that the "public" form of AGP looks and sounds like addiction! I have been thinking that there should be some sort of early intervention/support for AGP/AAP's to help keep them grounded and avoid becoming addicted to sex/porn and to the toxic attention of the online TRA community. I would really love to help somehow in that effort and am going to try to reach out to Laura somehow. Thank you again for ALL you are doing and as a radical feminist (albeit a rather new one since becoming GC about 18 months ago), I want to say that I see the abuse and negativity and 100% oppose it. I call it out when I can but also just try to keep the focus positive myself. Also a big CONGRATULATIONS to Laura for getting off opiates!!!

There is no evidence that autoandrophilia is a real thing. With all of the obvious issues she has going on, I can see how she would get confused about it. Ray Blanchard, in an interview I think he did with this channel, but it may have been another one, said that in all the time he worked with people transitioning before ROGD was a thing, he only worked with one FtM who was attracted to men, and very few FtMs at all. There are certain disorders of neurological development that put men at higher risk for developing AGP, like ADHD, OCD, and ASD(I think), which also put them at greater risk of becoming addicts. When someone with AGP seems like their AGP is an addiction in itself, it’s likely because they have one of those disorders that causes them to become easily addicted in the first place. There are plenty of AGPs who don’t appear compulsive, impulsive, exhibitionistic, etc., about their paraphilia. I would guess those who are not NT are more likely to feel the need to transition. But women don’t develop paraphilias. Some are pseudo masochists, due to childhood trauma, but that’s pretty much it. I used to think female sexuality was a lot more complicated than male sexuality, and that’s still true, when it comes to typical sexuality, but as far as sexual pathology? Men take the cake

Her doctor was giving her anabolic steroids for knee pain??? Is he a witch doctor? Corticosteroids are used as an anti-inflammatory treatment for joint pain and replicate the effects of cortisol, these are NOT the same thing as anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids bind to androgen receptors and replicate the effects of testosterone, they are not used to treat inflammatory conditions. Further, anabolic steroids are generally illegal. If her doctor doesn't know the difference between corticosteroids and anabolic steroids, he should be stripped of his license. Also, why is she self medicating an inflammatory condition with cross-sex hormones? Is this something her dr recommended? If so, why?

It’s interesting that she’s taking testosterone, according to her, in order to be more active with her son, but isn’t concerned about the HUGE health impact testosterone has on women’s bodies, particularly our hearts. On testosterone, her risk of heart attack is at least as high as that of a man’s. Why not get cortisone injections or something? It almost seems like she wanted an excuse to take testosterone again. It’s also strange that she said a doctor prescribed her actual steroids for knee pain. That doesn’t sound like standard practice at all.

🤔 "The mothers transitioning their kid(s) have a paraphilia." I do suspect my cousin (who's transitioning two of her daughters) and one of her daughters of having BPD/Borderline Personality Disorder (which 6% of women have). The symptoms for it can honestly be read as being similar to gender dysphoria. Tho I'm not agreeing that BPD is genetic even tho me and my uncle also likely have it. I know circumstances about both of their upbringings that caused the condition which amounts to poor parenting. I would say it's attention seeking steming from the condition. I'm not sure if it has a link to Factitious Disorder aka Munchausen Syndrome.

As an autistic person I understand we can come across as very brazen and deluded to normal people sometimes, but I think a lot of that has to do with the thinking aloud and not reading the room.

She's pathologizing normal variation in what people are attracted to. I'm a bisexual man who's generally attracted to more androgynous looking males and females. This doesn't cause me any distress or social problems, and there is absolutely no reason to label it as a paraphilia.

Curious, as I don’t know any bi men; do you have a strong preference for men or women? And who do you prefer to have relationships with? I certainly agree that what she said about some gay men possibly being autogynephilic and not gay was pretty weird. Why would they not transition then? How would the partner who’s actually gay feel about that? Wouldn’t they be able to tell that their AGP partner isn’t genuinely attracted to them? She is like the female version of James Shupe, as far as how obsessed she is with autogynephilia and the false notion that AAP is a real thing. Before he got chased into the manosphere, he had catalogued online every single news story involving trans people, and other trans related events/topics.

@freedombono 2 года назад
@@katieandnick4113 Not a strong one, no. I have a mild preference for women, but I think at least some of that is due to heterosexual relationships being the social norm. Not all, but I'm self aware enough that I know that's a factor. I am definitely pickier with men, in that I have a broader range of types that I'm attracted to with women rather than men. I don't know that I'm particularly representative, and this is a very important point. Within gay, bi or straight men or women there's a wide range of experience, even if some are more common than others. There is no need to pathologize any of this if it doesn't cause the individuals involved any distress, or result in any antisocial or criminal behaviour. To give an example, as I mentioned, I tend to be attracted to androgynous men and women. It so happens that a lot of these women are lesbians. That kinda sucks, but it's just life. It doesn't make me want to transition, or to try to convince them to want men.

But I’m definitely open to learning new things from people who experience it, and are self aware.

@@katieandnick4113 I dont think its weird that there are bisexual AGPs in relationships with men. Being in a relationship with a man actually makes the difference between you and your partner less pronounced; theres less of a size difference, emotional difference, hormonal difference, etc between the two of you...and depending on what sort of dysphoria you experience, those feelings might not flare up as much as they would if you were with a woman. A lot of dysphoria for me comes from comparing myself to my smaller female partner, on both a conscious and unconscious level. I have heard some AGPs say this is why they started dating men after transitioning, but I am absolutely with Laura in thinking this happens before transition (or in non transitioners) as well. I am an example. I have never transitioned and I have been in relationships with men. The most emotionally fulfilling romantic relationship I ever had was with a man, in fact. As for why I was trying to stop myself from transitioning in the first place...well, on the one hand I knew about AGP and Id always had a lot of self hatred as a result of it. It was a way of avoiding dysphoria without indulging my AGP...that would have made me feel really gross (ironically because of my self hatred of my own masculinity, which I saw being manifest in AGP)...plus I escaped the curse of being dreaded straight white male to boot (which sadly helped my mental health a lot...even though Im not a wokist by any stretch of the imagination, their propaganda has got into a lot of people on an unconscious level and that absolutely had an effect on me). I hope Im not pretending what I did was unproblematic; I want to explain it so people realize how diversely this condition can be in how it manifests. I think lots of people who are AGP deny it because of the stigma. And yet, what they do is clearly a result of it. As for why gay guys would go along with it...well, often if a man is really attracted to you and knows you love him and enjoy sex with him in your own way, he doesnt mind you not identifying as gay. Its the relationship with the person that he values, and being willing and able to have sex with him and enjoy it. And more pertinently to what you were saying...he might not believe you when you tell him the real reason. I tried to explain it to the guy I mentioned and he was completely confused by it. AGP is a weird condition and gay men are often skeptical of guys who sleep with them who swear theyre not gay...theyve seen closet cases a million times before. So they kind of write you off as being a weird case of a gay man in self denial. As for why bi-acting AGPs might not want to transition more generally, theres often that struggle between wanting to play the role of the man vs the woman when youre AGP. In spite of my dysphoria I still enjoy enough about being a man to justify seeking out relationships with men as a way of controlling the dysphoria while staying male. I think I figured I could cultivate femininity to the extent that was natural to me and be validated for it (its taken as more genuine if you do it as a gay man) while also not having my natural masculinity jar with it or be pointed out at the time. Though I was not aware of the behavioural component of AGP at the time, and thought I was suppressing my AGP completely, I was actually indulging it...when I became self aware of it, I stopped (though I still experience attraction to some men and still think of myself as bisexual, I dont think most of it would ever have appeared in me if I wasnt AGP). I hope all of that is helpful.

Highly skeptical. Intelligent people and curious people are always looking for why things are the way they are, why people are the way they are, why this, why that. I’m sure having ASD adds a different level of intensity to some people’s curiosity. I wonder if the fact that autists struggle with theory of mind plays into the idea that something exactly analogous to AGP exists in women. Like, it’s common knowledge that women are often aroused by gay erotica and gay p0rn0graphy. But, most of us think about it and view it from an outsider’s perspective. Do some(or most, or all) people with ASD lack the ability to fantasize about a situation they aren’t involved in?

Most men are aroused by lesbian pornography, but aren't AGP. This is speculation based on her experience dealing with her own issues and listening to others, so certainly not coming from nowhere. This field has been so polluted by gender ideology that people are left to flounder and make their best guesses, but at least these people are trying to help young people realize that there are alternatives to "transition." I think that's laudable.

So many questions. A lot to think about. Just one question I had - DOES taking testosterone help with knee pain?
@katieandnick4113
@katieandnick4113 2 года назад
Steroids and even NSAIDs can help. But I don’t think she’s taking testosterone to alleviate knee pain. I think she’s using knee pain(which she very well may have) as a reason to go back on testosterone, for a multitude of reasons. She’s an addict. Testosterone can literally cause women to experience a euphoric feeling, like a high. I’m also a recovering opiate addict, and the few times I was put on prednisone, I noticed a marked change in my mood. Testosterone is far more potent than prednisone. It does seem very odd that she understands that men are not attracted to women on testosterone, after mentioning that she had become seggsually active again after a period of celibacy. There are just so many possible reasons that she could want to take it, that have little to nothing to do with knee pain. This may be a stretch, but it’s also possible that she realizes she can’t handle normal, healthy seggsual relationships with men, and so taking testosterone essentially eliminates her opportunity to have those relationships. I mean, it probably also increases her seggs drive substantially, which would be frustrating if she’s trying to avoid seggs with men, but women with ASD tend to be more capable of seggsual satisfaction without a partner, through masterbation, than NT women.

It’s so interesting that people think that not having an NPD diagnosis means you aren’t a narcissist. You could be one of the biggest narcissists in the world, and not meet criteria for an NPD diagnosis. That’s important to remember. Sounds like she’s single and has no children; don’t know if she works. If you have nothing really going on in your life, you don’t have anything that’s going to suffer or be impacted due to your narcissism, so you won’t get a diagnosis.

@katieandnick4113
@katieandnick4113 2 года назад
@@L_Martin I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about what narcissism is, and how and why someone becomes a narcissist. It’s not like bipolar disorder or ADHD, or schizophrenia; it’s not something people are born to become. So it’s not surprising that there has been a substantial increase in people developing narcissism due to social media, especially platforms like RU-vid, Instagram, tiktok. Parasocial relationships are so incredibly damaging to humans, particularly children. All humans are a little narcissistic. Some are very narcissistic. There are plenty of trans people who don’t come across as narcissistic at all, like Aaron, Mars, and Aaron. There are also some GCs that are very narcissistic, like a particular RU-vidr who has been harassing, bordering on torturing, these specific trans people. I think it’s important to be honest about everything. I listened to an interview with Michael Bailey a few days ago, and he spoke about how not all AGP TW are narcissists, but many are. I do think gen Z is absolutely the most narcissistic generation. Narcissism is caused by either extreme overindulgence, or extreme neglect during childhood. Gen Z, as a whole, has been both overindulged/protected and neglected by their parents, if that makes sense. There’s also a lot of BPD going on, particularly in girls with ROGD. It really is such a mess.

Homoseggsuality seems like it’s innate, for the most part, in men. In women, I think it’s probably not, or at least not nearly as much as in men. By innate, I mean it’s dependent on genetic and/or environmental factors during fetal development.

Interesting interview. Delaying transition is controversial though for MTF. Testosteron causes irreversible changes. First, it's development of male sex characteristics, such as low voice, facial hair, growth of genitalia. It happens during puberty. But the caveat here is that teenagers are too young to make such decisions. Second, it's male pattern baldness, which usually starts in one's 20s and 30s. 95 percent of men experience some level of male pattern baldness, at least receding hairline. And here you want to be proactive. Get on propecia asap if you consider transitioning later. You won't notice you're balding until you've lost 50% of your hair. I'm AGP and consider getting on estrogen later without social transition. But for now I just want to preserve my hair. Not only finasteride helps me prevent hair loss, but also it reduces my sex drive, which is really good.

@katieandnick4113
@katieandnick4113 2 года назад
@@akashicturtle1827 blocking puberty makes more sense in males than females, only because of testosterone. But there are just too many downsides to blocking puberty in either seggs to make it worth preventing the effects of testosterone. When kids don’t go through puberty, they don’t develop a real seggsuality, which will make it about impossible for them to ever find a happy relationship. Jazz Jennings was almost certainly going to be gay, but now, describes herself as pan, and even confused what was likely a platonic attraction to a lesbian as real attraction. Extremely GNC gay males are the only group that may truly benefit from transitioning before 18, but certainly not until puberty is complete. And for them, it’s often not a problem to wait until 18, because they are already so feminine that they take very well to hormones and T blocking drugs very quickly. It’s a very tough position for them, as most don’t want SRS, but also don’t want to be one position where chasers are their only option for future partners. But if they do get SRS, they are competing with biological women for male partners, and will almost always lose. For Nancy, who is AGP, I’m really not quite sure why he doesn’t transition. I think I have heard him mention wanting to have a wife as a reason not to, and that really does make me concerned. He knows he’s probably going to want to transition eventually. I hope he doesn’t make the mistake of getting married because he thinks it will fix him.

@@akashicturtle1827 Gay men are watching with horror at the suggestion that puberty blocking and cross sex hormones make "more sense" for teen males because the vast majority of us were GNC during childhood and our teen years. We all look back at our younger selves and could totally see ourselves getting swept up into this gender whirlwind had we been born just a decade or two later. If the vast majority of dysphoric kids desist by adulthood then putting them on puberty blockers just in case (which studies have shown almost always lead directly into cross sex hormones) shows a reckless disregard for the well being of future gay men. If transition were simply a social phenomenon nobody would care. Have at it, change your name and pronounce wear whatever clothes you want and test the waters. But it's not. It has very real effects on our bodies and our ability to experience sexual pleasure in the future. Being wrong about being gay causes no future harm. The same can not be said for being wrong about being trans. The stakes are so much higher when hormones and surgeries are involved. I don't want young trans women to suffer but I also don't want confused young gay men to suffer either. For this reason I support much more thorough mental health assessments before anyone is started on a transition. A little bit of gatekeeping is exactly whats needed to make sure trans youth get the help they need but other kids don't get dragged along through the system with them.
