Brilliant Chris this is why I follow you, the Isle of skye is my home ground so its always great to see other photographers images. Considering the light the images were brilliant and the shots you took whilst out with Simon were superb, and a great Interview. Never stop traveling and thanks for sharing.

What amazes me about your video is your grasp of videoing. Preempting positional placing of your video camera & the quirky little close ups. No mean feet. One thing that you might consider is for the uninitiated (not sure your target audience) is to make even a cursory ref to some of the process. You added a circular filter; was it a big stopper a polarising filter or ND/Grad.....Might be irrelevant but could be beneficial. One question I have you get to go to some really great locations are these self funded or are the costs covered by Olympus as part of the visionary programme?
@chriseyrewalker
@chriseyrewalker 5 лет назад
Thanks so much for the kind words Gerard. I will be releasing a video on how I create videos in the coming months. So stay tuned for that. As for projects, it’s a mix. Some a supported by Olympus. Some I just pay for myself and hope to make a little money off after the fact. I try to keep it as diverse as possible to not depend on one big stream of income.

Woah, stunning Video skills!! Keep up that amazing work! Love it. You know what got me thinking? You said, "The light is bad, it's to flat" ... maybe not your exact words, but that's what I've heard and lately, I've been thinking about, what would I hang an my wall? Since this is the final goal with the work I'm doing, make it touchable, bringing it from the virtual world into the "real world". So what I found is, I don't want things which hang on my wall to be the center of everything and grabbing all the attention, so what I actually enjoy most is, those very flat days. At least for printing those images. ... Very unstructured thought 😂. Hope you understand what I'm thinking and saying. Only some input which might give you new ideas.

Very cool and inspiring, and as I've also got an E-M1 MII I'll have fun the same way. I guess that artefacts can be either blured or hidden with a bit of grain increase in Lr, can't it ? Anyway you've got a new follower from France to enjoy your channel.

Late to the party as have just upgraded from my E-M5.2 to an E-M1.2 - wondering if you shot this video in 4K then resized to HD or did you shoot HD natively? Do you use dedicated card slots to seperate video and stills? Thanks!

Chris one more question, to make 80mpix picture the camera has to take 4 pictures as you said. My question is to make long exposure picture with ND filter on let say 30s for correct exposure it's mean the camera has to take 4 pictures 30s each then? 2 min in total? What the settings did you use to take that amazing picture? Thank you

Great video - liked and subbed. I just got the A7R3 by Sony which has a similar feature - they call it 'pixel shift mode'. The colour accuracy, sharpness, and detail is game changing. However, there's a huge downside to it: it doesn't tolerate *any* movement in the scene. You get these weird artifacts which are annoying (though not impossible) to remove. How does the Olympus handle it?
@chriseyrewalker
@chriseyrewalker 6 лет назад
Thanks! - A similar effect happens in Olympus shots too. BUT the camera uses the first of the multiple shots to ‘patch up’ places with too much movement. It works surprisingly well but occasionally you do still get artefacts. I’m sure this will get better as the cameras evolve and get faster at this feature.
@ryanheldoorn
@ryanheldoorn 6 лет назад
Top work champ. With the pixel shift (sorry i'm a sony guy lol but its basically the same technology) does it work ok for long exposures? I know that sony is plugging it as better for no movement shots but seems that long exposures with water might work out ok. I guess i have some experimenting to do!
@chriseyrewalker
@chriseyrewalker 6 лет назад
Yeah it works. But don’t expect every shot to be 100% sharp. It’s very very hard for a camera to not even move by half a pixel during 8 long exposure shots. I took 10 shots there to be sure I got it.

Great vid and you have a new follower ! With the Hi-res did you use an ND filter and if so what was the exposure time approximately ? I've read the EM1 mkii can do upto 60 secs in Hi-res mode ( I guess up to 8 x60 secs) - thanks Dave
@chriseyrewalker

Thanks Dave. And thanks for subscribing. I can’t remember off the back of my head, but it was around 5-10 second with an ND filter. You can check the blog post and might find the camera settings below the images there.

Quick question too….should i stay with my omd 1 mark two or you think for landscape I would gain in anyway quality-wise if i upgrade to mark 3 or the new om1?
@chriseyrewalker
@chriseyrewalker Год назад
The difference between the Mark II and the Mark III isn’t that significant. However, the OM1 is a big leap and absolutely worth the upgrade from the Mark II. Especially the handheld hi-res mode can be very useful for landscape work. But also the new sensor offers a jump in fine detail too.
@fernanddurler4709
@fernanddurler4709 Год назад
@@chriseyrewalker Thanks for the insight Chris…I love the OM and am saving up, but because I also love architectural outdoor/indoor photography I am thinking its perhaps best to by full frame used dslr for that genre..lenses are tilt shift are more abound and buying vintage medium format lenses are cheap used with adaptors …modern specialist lenses are so costly! I last picked up my Olympus Trip and pentax 35MM 40 years ago…so please forgive my indecision - my over thinking and watching way too many videos has confused me even more, but for around genres it appears only logical to go with micro four thirds…even if the sensor is tiny and perhaps the AI at times can make images look unreal or too digitally enhanced as opposed to a more filmic look especially in poor lighting,,,,I likely to be wrong as I have not tried it yet🙃Thanks again for your inspiration…love your videos.
