One of my favorite episodes you’ve ever done Chris! Can’t wait to see the next one! The music like always was epic in this one, matches the feel of Norway very nicely, just pure epicness
Very impressive photographs just rewards for effort I think well done. An image that comes to mind when thinking of Norway, kirk running down the longboat oars with a waterfall in the background in good weather. Nearly as impressive as your sky walkers.
Thank You Andy. Less is more. I’ve also reduced the episode lengths a bit. Just been a bit more selective with the video footage. Using only the best 👌🏼
Man usually I find b-roll distracting (when random leaves got shown for example). But your skills really make for a fantastic mood and dynamic. Great work Chris!
That’s because most videos don’t know what b-roll is for. It’s used to fill in the gaps between talking... mostly it doesn’t even have anything to do with the story. Slap in some slowmo, electronic music and voila. ‘Epic B-Roll’. I try to use it to set the mood. Paint the picture and reduce the amount of words needed to be said to camera.
I was about to comment that the opening scenes didn't really work with the music but then it kicked in and thought ... yup, that really works ... For me, the waterfall shots are actually more impactful without the person in ..And some beautiful processing to really bring out the best of the images .... safe onward travels ...
Thanks Nigel. I wasn’t too sure about that song either initially... but I liked what it turned into and the footage somehow worked well with it in the end. As for the shots... I can’t decide. The person shots are ‘epic’. The ones without got some better light in them. Tough one...
Weird to see you lurking around in my neighborhood :) Excellent video mate! You can get closer / further down to Månafossen, but there it is even wetter, but the roar is excellent!
Man that first shot of the waterfall was my favorite of the video. Background music was 🔥. I also noticed that you barely use telephoto nowadays. it's always wide.
Thanks as always Hamza. Yes I’ve come to enjoy the classic focal lengths. 24-50mm and occasionally I’ll go for a wider shot. I’m sure the longer lenses will be loved again soon enough. It’s a phase. Haha
Another amazing video Chris I really liked your images I think the moody weather just added to the atmosphere of them. Thanks for sharing and once again inspiring me :D Teddy
I have to ask. The shot at the beginning walking down the hall on the ferry coupled with the shot of you walking up the bridge in the rain right after... did you plan that transition ahead of time or did you notice the similarity in post? Either way, it's details like that that make your videos so epic. It's hard enough just to get great photography. To do excellent video at the same time... Always amazed.
Vraiment superbes ces images qui prouvent bien que l’on peut faire de la photo sous la pluie. Tu me donnes encore plus envie d’y aller en Norvège. C’était à quelle saison?.
Your b-roll intro is absolutely next level. Well done as usual :) Love the image of the waterfall and the person. Who says Iceland has all the awesome waterfalls?
Yep, the waterfall was absolutely stunning! The video, sound and the whole mood are great, don't know how people just talking boring things about gear only can have 10-20 times more subscribers!
Great video, Chris, and some super images. You don’t appear to use a tripod. Is this normal practice or a way to speed up things when making your vlog? Thank you.
Thanks Tony. I’m not a big fan of tripods. I do own one. But leave it behind most of the time. The Olympus systems doesn’t really require a tripod. I can easily shoot sharp +1sec exposures handheld with it...
Nice take on Preikestolen Chris!=) I've been up there surrounded by fog myself too and I think that location might actually look more impressive in dramatic weather like that=)
Thanks Steffen. I didn’t really research the ‘perfect’ shot here. But I think we found a nice perspective on it. Definitely not reinventing the wheel here. But still, I probably did the most with what we had.
Stunning B roll and great video all round Chris..how are you enjoying the Atlas backpack and how did it cope with the soaking ? fyi I've been talking to Allen at Atlas re sizes/my requirements etc and he's been very helpful (I'll be making decision in the new year) ..I did mention that my first sight of them was on your review of the Athlete pack on your channel
@@chriseyrewalker Thanks Chris...think I'll be indulging in the bigger pack soon...if you have a link to it that helps you just DM me and I'll do it through that as/when I get it
Subscribed. Interesting channel. OM-D E-M1.2 (and PEN-F) user here. My first PRO lens is the 300mm. I'm speechless. Might I ask you what is the leather strap you using on your E-M1 (if not possible I'd understand)?
Your work is absolutely stunning! Instant sub. I'm a broadcast cameraman but more on the live TV side of things, studio and sports etc. I'm looking at starting to shoot my own commercial cinematography this year and I think the 4.6K G2 is looking like it may be the one! On paper I was fairly sure already, but your recent content has absolutely sold me! What did you shoot this episode with? Great stuff, subbed 👍
Chris Eyre-Walker These kind of videos are what I am looking for to motivate me to go and shoot, those cinematic looked, the background song, the photos, the adventure, and more I’ll start browsing all your videos and I hope this helps you also to keep making more video like this. All in all cheers 🍻 for your success and stay safe in the wilderness. 😉
Hah, a little moody weather and nobody isn't there :-D But.. in my opinion places like this is best to visit during moody weather because of the less people and atmosphere :-) Btw great video bro.
You really stepped up your APOL game - again ;-) From amazing to breathtaking. Huge inspiration. Hope I will get somewhere close in the future with vlogs. Long way to go :)
