The cap goes over your roofing not under it. You will still have water issues with the flashing put under the metal roofing

Recommend foam filler strips to keep bugs from getting under roofing metal. This goes under ridge cap and also under lower edge of roof.

It has taken you a long time to build your cabin……but then again perfection takes time and patience.And you have what it takes….Another beautiful work….love your videos…..stay safe…..

There should be no screws in the middle of the panels, only in the ribs. The water will never be higher than ribs but it will be in the flat. If you have a bad seal in the screw and your steel roof panel, you'll get a leak. So glad to see you hooked up to the safety harness.

Your roof will rot very quickly. Condensation from the tin roof remains standing in the flashings. You have to remove the roof and the flashings and put the longitudinal flashings and then the horizontal flashings on top of that and then the sheet metal.

Glad you have help with the metal roofing. Your daughter is so adorable 🥰. I would put some caulk on where the flashing is on your poles, keep out water from going behind.

Two things on metal roofing I have discovered after living and working with it for 20 years, first the air space.... between the strapping, allows the roof to cool quickly in the evening and much condensation will build up, I have leaks in my house from condensating freezing and building up then it warms up and melts and eventually finds it way inside. So I now put a solid substrate, be it boards or 4x8 sheet goods this allows the roof to stay warm and avoid the condensation. Second, I predrill the panels on the ground if it a two pitch I drill half for one side to its pattern and the other half for its side, they are different depending on which end you start from. pre drilling makes for nice tidy screw lines and no need to pound the driver to set the screw Oh I see you're pre drilling. Check your warranty, they void it if you put the screws in the ridge. I used to do it that way, and after struggling with tight screws that pus the hump flat and spread the sheet and cause uneven installs I now follow the suggested screw location on the flats for this purpose only. Screw down metal is fast to install compared to other roofing materials, it's great stuff and after it over it can be repurposed for other things in like 50 years or more, well we will see. I haven't tried the knife trick must try. Kids are like weeds, they grow fast. Is that textured metal? Oh man full gloves that stuff is ragged when cut.

i know this is old video, I never build a cabin before, but what I have seen on RU-vid, if that person wants wood planks look inside the cabin, they used some king foam boards on top their roof before they laydown metal roofing. i would think if their know insulation on roof the heat won't stay inside cabin unless it doesn't get too cold there. and I'm a new subscriber viewer.

Very nice you some silicone where the log meets your your metal flashing or it still will leak that should keep out all the water but I love the design this is it's really awesome you're doing a great job man your family should be proud of you 👍👍👍👍

Watching you work on that very S T E E E P roof gave me the willys...Can't believe your baby girl is walking about. One of her expressions was truly her beautiful mothers. Then she raised her eyebrows and it was a carbon copy look of her handsome dad. The cabin is finishing up beautifully. Wondering if the missing logs at the top of the first floor walls will be glass for more light ? After such a successful execution of your work on this cabin, I am going to bet you do another....hope so anyway . P S. I have to make that soup, Caitlin makes up some tempting meals.

That was some serious steep metal roofing you got there going on! I don’t think your little mistake will lead to leakage very soon. The babybearcub is strolling proudly in the woods. She’s getting accustomed to the outdoor living! The cutting of the metal using a knife seems to me more time consuming than using metal scissors. But when you don’t have those, this works!
