Awesome video & ideas. I have a box of unused salt, from an abandoned idea years ago... not iodized... & a bunch of logs to remove bark & clean. Perfect! I much rather use salt on my wood than bleach. Salt was always used as a preservative. Of course.
A word of caution. You will want to be careful applying your conditioner to the leather around the eyelets and the heel stack and sole. The leather around the eyelets can become too soft and tear the eyelets out. The heel stack and sole have glues that may react poorly to the oils in the conditioner, resulting in them unbonding.
Yes the 2nd pair of Nicks (Overlander) were way too small even though they were supposed to be the same size. My first pair of Nicks and my Franks are absolutely perfect. I bought a pair of Parkhurst Allen boots same size and they are great also. Next pair will be another pair of Franks. Maybe their dress casual.
No, they're stitchdown in the front and nail down in the back. Much more durable than Goodyear machine welted. You can find RU-vid videos of how they're made
“The point of a journey, is not to arrive.” ~ Neil Peart (you can move the comma: “The point of a journey is not, to arrive.”) I guess it depends on your journey.
Great job, very nice family, I m french and live in France ,but on 2006and 2007 ,two Québec trips , Harricana lodge, and 2008 ,Nova Scotia trip, I love the Canada , I wait one thing, to return on Canada trip😊. My english isn't very good, but I learn ,alone. What your province, just by curiosité. God bless.
I’m currently awaiting the arrival of my first pair of nicks boots. I’ve been wearing my thorogoods for 2+ years daily. Oily the boots makes them go a long way. I might even get new soles on the thorogoods
I bought a pair of Roberts with the 55 last. After a couple of days they were the best fitting boots I ever owned. Still are. I bought a pair of Overlanders in the same size. I asked customer service if they would break in like the Roberts. They said yes you’re good to go. I wore them to work every day for 3 months. I suffered trying to break them in. Had them stretched professionally twice but we’re still painful. Talked with customer service and sent them pictures. They didn’t want to help me. Their response was “better luck next time “. They lost a customer. If they took care of me I would still be a customer. I have turned my boot buying to Franks. More than happy with their service and their boots.
I knew it you must be in eastern Manitoba or in western Ontario. I used to work up in the Bisette area and your property looks just like that place. Especially with the black flies I’ll take the mosquitos over them. I used to own an art company in Winnipeg called Monart I did custom picture framing, large format printing on canvas, water colour, and lots of different types of paper. I also did prints, lithographs and proofs for many artist throughout Canada, the United States and abroad. The cabin build is amazing. Happy Easter to you and your family.
I've been planning on getting these, but as I got closer to the purchase I also started looking at others in the same price point and 'quality' ratings. Your video ended it all :-). Thank you for the final push with your vote of confidence.
That is some creative work. Thinking outside the box. You are an inspiration and a great source of new thinking. Perhaps these are age old techniques. A new sub, bell rung and always a 'Like'. in Ontario, Canada, take care, Rick...
I was thinking about Nicks boots for a while but now I’m convinced that I won’t buy them. They are so expensive and, breaking in half? I was not expecting that. For all of you who have these- my best wishes and happy days. Over 😂😂
