If you read the novel from Vol 1 you will know that Rimuru has 3 skills counter against heat. 1 from his own, 1 he got from Shizu and 1 that came from Ifrit. Thats why Velgrynd has no chance using her skills. If she just used her pure strength when Rimuru havent devoured Veldora yet she could have won from Rimuru

rimuru only lost because he was protecting his subordinates who was stuck in the war and in the entire series rimuru never lost his reasoning when enraged if he was the 2 true dragon would have died without them knowing anything and also remeber rimuru was only making time to make veldora regain conciousness if he did not care about that and only see him as a true enemy veldora would die same goes to velgrynd@@lighteningball

Actually rimuru did not become a subspecies as it's a matter of the soul and he is actually his soul stracture is more like veldanava as he is the manifestation of the void the primordial emptiness that was container for the birth of the star king

Rimuru later found out that whenever Rimuru showed up, Diablo would become slacking. So he figured out that to make Diablo focus on work, he must stay away lol
