Hey Karen and Rob. The pins are for wearing on the tartan sashes that go across one shoulder down to the opposite hip. Love following you both, I haven’t missed a vlog.K🇬🇧❤️❤️

Yeah I get so many different answers on Google about these pins.... so what would the correct name for them be? Tartan pins? Sash pins? Thanks for your knowledge!!

@@BargainBarons Kilt pins were introduced by Queen Victoria and are either a “kilt pins” that look similar to a 4 inch heavy nappy pin or a decorative long pin to stop the flap from opening. This is placed on the right hand side. The plaid (scarf) is placed over your shoulder and the brooch (this is what Karen has) is pinned through the plaid and jacket just under the collar bone. There are over 7000 different registered Tartans. Hope this helps. Love you guys xx

I am from South Africa and they definitely are Scottish. My dad's parents were Scottish descent and there is a photo of my gran wearing it on her kilt.

Beautiful Scottish pins. Those are for the tartan worn across the body over the right shoulder. But mostly used by Scottish ladies as a brooch. My family has our coat or arms as our pin. I'm Scots Irish. Also love that Royal Navy ring and the RCAF Sweetheart pendant. GREAT FINDS. My son is now an official Canadian citizen. He took his loyalty oath to King Charles last month.

@BargainBarons tartain pins would be correct. A kilt pin is much larger and has a heavier pin. It's kind of like a very large safety pin. The more traditional kilt pins are a large steel ring with a separate spike. They wouldn't be decorative more utilitarian. In the old days, kilts were worn for everything from work to social gatherings. The Tartain pins were decorative and showed wealth or social position. In later days, they just turned into decorative accessories. The ones you two found are absolutely beautiful and most likely early 1900s

Those and several of your other jewelry you under value. The gold filled pendant is worth almost 100 dollars at least 80 to 90 . Silver is now spot price of 30 dollars an oz that's about a 50 cent piece. You sterling ring is forty dollars easy. I dont know you may price stuff to sell fast . I get 30 dollars for plain jane sterling rings . Anything slightly fancy is ten to twenty dollars more. Ten dollars in gold is so small you can't see it. And sterling is getting more valuable than in 50 years.
