Good demo,but my opinion it is better if you can start from the intake, also you can explain the provision of BPTs in some cases and also the use of Valves in the system.

Very nice observation bro! But this was just a part of big project that we were working on...so i decided to take just a small portion of it for the sake of this tutorial... again for BPTs and Valves I agree especially on the first branch! Infact may be I will cover it in the future videos!! Once again thanks for your feedback i really appreciate it!🙏

Hi, i am working on design of water distribution system project but not found any perfect video on youtube but this video was very good i can understand the concept well . But, one doubt what is the need of inserting node if there is need to supply water at that node?
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 3 года назад
Thank you SAI SATYA! I really appreciate that it was helpful!! Okey what you are saying is "why we put a node with no base demand assign to it?" I guess i get you right!! As you know at any node we are not only observing demand, elevation or head but we are also interested to know the value of pressure on that particular node. Now why we use nodes with zero demand? The answer is... in order to observe how pressure behave or to get the value of pressure in such a given node/point. NB 1: The higher the number of nodes (survey points) the closer your model will be to the real world terrain but it will be a little tough to work with during modeling AND VISE VERSA IS FEWER NODES ... NB 2: This will depend enterely on what your survey says especially on the land/area topography..

How can I best model a system with multiple storage tanks? The storage tanks are different sizes and feed different regions of the site, even though they receive water from the same source. Should I just run a simulation with a single model that represents the volume of the water demand for the entire site?
@HydroinformaticsAcademy

I did not get you when you said "a single model". Well, IMO, I think the best way to model such a network is to run an EPS Model (Extended Period Simulation Model) and if it is a pumping project it is even easier! With EPS you can model how the tanks will respond to water demand fluctuations and how the chemical properties of water will change when water moves in the system!

Sir, how can we provision cosntant flow from reservoir to tank? For example 1 lps from reservoir throuhout the day.
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 3 года назад
Hello welcome! This is the challenge because you don't have the option to insert base demand in tanks just like what we do with other junctions! It seems as though from the reservoir to tank water flows under influence of ground elevation... The higher the elevation the higher the flow! But here is a solution you can use for now. Soon after the reservoir, introduce a flow control valve, then on the FCV's "settings option" set the flow you want (eg 1LPS) and then set "none"! With this, you will have a constant flow (eg 1 L/s) coming from the reservoir and if you run your model, water will flow without any error BUT after running your model, when view pressure or results you will find that even though your model runs without any error you still have -ve pressures! That is a solution I have so far BUT I am still finding other options and I will keep you all posted in case of any development. So subscribe if you haven't. Once again welcome🙏

Is it a must Civil 3D or I can just use AutoCAD
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 2 года назад
I think even normal AutoCAD can do the work! But if you get any issues and if you are using excel version 2016 or less (version 2019+ work but sometimes you might get some issues) please use this tutorial ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wslkzGGVuoU.html

How did you assign the Base Demands as 0.6 and 1.6 LPS?
@HydroinformaticsAcademy
@HydroinformaticsAcademy 2 года назад
That is the demand, before modelling you need to calculate them! after that you can assign them to the appropriate nodes!

Can you please help me. I had done the network in Civil 3D and concert to .dxf then to .inp using EpaCAD and after loading the network in Epanet and adding a tank and while doing the run it shows an error message as "Tank closed at __ ft". How to solve it, I just need to run it successfully, that's all.. Can you please help me..

Hello Jewell! Did you use extended Period Simulation in your model or its just a normal steady state simulation?

@@HydroinformaticsAcademy Thank for your replay, I am not much aware about this water distribution and all. I had done a survey along the roads in a panchayath and made a network in autocad. My only requirement is to convert this AutoCAD network to Epanet and Run it. That's all.. Is there any methord to do that, if you could provide me the mail I'd , I will write it in details.
