EPEVER Tracer 40 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller Install In RV 

I run the same model with a 400 Ah battery at 24V, still going strong at 9 months. It's worth downloading the free software from Epever and getting a 99c RS485 to usb converter. It helps you to set it up to your own system and keep an eye on what's happening.

Looks great but my wife would absolutely kill me with this install.

Hi gentlemen. To answer Darell's question, the Epever rocks. I like your setup here. I have an Epever set up as DC Coupled with a 2400W rebranded Mpp Solar inverter. With just 600W, the inverter converts power directly from sun into AC and even charges the battery, however, I have the Epever DC coupled because I think the charge capabilities are just better. It can be programmed specifically for a particular battery (AGM, Gel, flooded, etc). There are a number of ways to achieve the DC Coupled, but I'm keeping it simple. Just need to get two more panels (or even just one). The thing about the Epever though is I should have gotten the WiFi or Bluetooth for it instead of the MT-50. While I like the MT-50, the WiFi does not need a router and links up to your smart phone. When hooked up to the Epever, you can immediately get a connection to your smart phone and manage it with the Epever App. It's very similar to the Victron App. I chose the Wifi over the Bluetooth because the signal is stronger. In essence the Epever Wifi acts as its' own router and you just link up with your Wifi from your smart phone. Anyway...nice work.

Excellent video. I FRIED my first controller with too much amperage, then I learned to hook up the 2 "300 watt each" panels in series instead. the voltage is twice as much, but the controller knows how to regulate the higher voltage with lower amperage.

The cable will be a straight-thru serial with RJ45 type connectors. So not actually ethernet. Nice work on the install.

From what I can tell most people get a PWM purely because they are cheaper than an MPPT. Not cheaper in the long run of course. Two Things . Assuming You Are Feeding Direct .That Charge Circuit Can No Longer Give You 40 Amps as the Circuit Switch You are Using Sir Is Only Rated Max 15 Amps at 12VDC. 2 Why Not Hook Up The 12 Volt Electrics in The Van To The Solar Control Load Out That Way The 12 Volt Gets free Power During the Day. Then The Battery's Take over When The Transition Occurs From Day To Night. win win Situation. Good Luck .

Since you upgraded to an MPPT controller, why didn't you hook your panels in series? A bit more efficient that way, and a little less wire. Anyway, nice job. Great system for boondocking.

Depending on how much power your panels have,12 gauge is more than necessary for series panel wiring. but you need heavier wire to the battery, and I would put it closer to the battery. 10 gauge should be limited to 30 amps. To match the 40 amp max output of the charge controller, you should have 8 gauge.

the controller here ( EPEVER ) will work with lithium batteries, I see online that the controller has to be programed for lithium, to do so I'm wondering if that remote meter u have to have to do so

Could I wire panels in series to 48v input for this controller? Is there any benefit from just keeping it at 24v?

You can better connect the 2 panels in series, higher panel voltage 35/36v, higher charge capacity by cloudy weather. Epsolar / ever is a good brand i have the ET6415BND 60 A model. It is al-time good to have a little bit extra capacity, for one or to panels more. My charge controller works 3 years very well. It is an affordable and good brand.

In your next video, please reveal what type of lead acid batteries you are using (flood? / Sealed? / Gel?), the total number of amp hours of your batteries, and the total number of watt hours of your batteries. Don't forget to connect the correct type of fuse to the positive cable wire of each solar panel, and the correct type fuse to the positive cable wire from each of your batteries.

Why did you put the connection on the panels that far from your opening. You could have used shorter wires, that could change the loss in the wire, and liss cost for the wire. Every little bit can make a difference.

You need to add some fuses inline on the positive from the solar and out to the batteries mate.

40 amps? I got 100 amps working on 85 amps constantly. Works great

How can you tell if charging at 12 or 24v, my EPEver shows 35v from the panel? I presume that volts out of the panel and not into the battery.. I hope.

I have four panels at 295w and was hoping to connect all four into a 12v system. But, I know the max is 520 for a 12v, wondering if I put two of my panels, 590w max into the 12v, will it still make smoke? I have a question, I'm confused with the solar panels, with the MPPT and the inverters, my question is: if I use solar panel, do I have to use INVERTER AND ALSO MPPT Or do I just have to use one of the two? and which one do you recommend? is that I'm new to this RV and I want to install the solar panels.

I recently bought an epever 2210 MPPT charge controller. BY default battery type was SEELED and I could change it to USER as I am having 4S 17P Lithium battery pack (18650) But my controller is not charging more than 14.5V but I want to change it to 16.8V I couldn't find out a way to do it. Can you please help me in simple language? I have no remote meter.
