When Paul says in Rom 16: and by the scriptures of the prophets, I believe it is the OT scriptures that the prophets told of the Christ, His death and resurrection which is part of our gospel. It's the foundation, the starting point of our message. The mystery then takes off from there. Being the salvation of gentiles, w/o Jews, w/o the law or covenants, being one in Christ, and Christ in you. These are the parts of the mystery.
Please explain the Church of England? Jesus gave the prophecy to the Patriarchs and you are conveniently denying it. Your statement is true but how was the Gospel spread?
I don't think Gods will for the "13th apostle" has "changed" because JOSEPH and his TWO SONS Ephraim and Manasseh from the Egyptian (Gentile!) princess have already been the pattern in the OT just like the second wife of Abraham or the Midianite wife of Moses. It was not revealed though what it meant but they replace and add to the tribes of Israel not chosen in Revelation 7. Just some notification here. Blessings all the way from Germany, MARANATHA! 🙏👰💖
In verse 3 what does it mean that God is Jesus' God? "Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ"? How can God have a God? Or a father for that matter?
Great question and observation. Most people, it seems, don't even notice the many pronouns and specific terminology in this book. WE, YOU, US. To YOU-WARD, US-WARD. This book is full of them. To answer your question. The first group of people are those who are in the Covenants of Promise. Paul puts HIMSELF in the FIRST group of people when he says WE in Eph 1:12 That WE should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. The 2nd group are those who are NOT in the Covenants of Promise. Eph 1:13 In whom YE also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of YOUR salvation: in whom also after that YE believed, YE were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Eph 2:11-12 Wherefore remember, that YE being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12 That at that time, YE were WITHOUT Christ, being ALIENS from the commonwealth of Israel, and STRANGERS from the covenants of promise, having NO HOPE, and WITHOUT God in the world:
