Now in Selcuk, I visit Ephesus, the fourth largest city of the Roman Empire and the former capital of Roman Asia. I also pay a visit to one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, The Temple of Artemis, before touring around the pleasant and quaint streets of Selcuk.

One of the very BEST vlogs of Ephesus. Thanks so much for showing the proximity to Seljuk. I know when we went, our tour guide/ bus stopped to pick some guests from Seljuk but didn’t realize one could walk to Ephesus. We stayed at Kusadaşı when visiting but I see that Seljuk is worth to stay at to walk to Ephesus instead of being in a tour now that we know the place. Thanks so much for sharing the historical facts too. Always a great part of traveling besides the scenery and mingling with the wonderful people! LOVE Turkey 🇹🇷 from USA.

Ephesos . In 1954, a burial ground from the Mycenaean era (1500-1400 BC), which contained ceramic pots, was discovered close to the ruins of the basilica of St. John. This was the period of the Mycenaean expansion, when the Achaioi (as they were called by Homer) began settling in Asia Minor, a process that continued into the 13th century BC. Ephesus was founded as an Attic-Ionian colony in the 10th century BC.The founder of the city was a prince of Athens named Androklos. He named the city Ephesos (Εφεσος) ,a name of an Amazon queen.Ancient sources (Pausanias (4.31.8) seem to indicate that the Mycenean name of the place was Alope (Ancient Greek: Ἀλόπη, romanized: Alópē).

Ephesos (/ˈɛfəsəs/; Greek: Ἔφεσος Ephesos; Turkish: Efes) was an ancient Greek city on the coast of Ionia, three kilometres southwest of present-day Selçuk in İzmir Province, Turkey. It was built in the 10th century BC on the site of the former Arzawan capital by Attic and Ionian Greek colonists. During the Classical Greek era it was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League. The city flourished AFTER it came under the control of the Roman Republic in 129 BC.

It is an ancient GREEK city. No one has to know everything.... But, before you write ✍ something is better to check, first. Or open books... Thank you! From Wikipedia: Ephesus Ephesus (/ˈɛfəsəs/;[1] Ancient Greek: Ἔφεσος Efesos; Turkish: Efes; may ultimately derive from Hittite Apasa) was an ancient Greek city[2][3] on the coast of Ionia, three kilometres southwest of present-day Selçuk in İzmir Province, Turkey. It was built in the 10th century BC on the site of the former Arzawan capital[4][5] by Attic and Ionian Greek colonists. Tuckey? Did you forget there is an R in the name? I visited Turkey (Turkiye) for what I thought would be 3 weeks. I loved it so much, I stayed 3 months. It's hard to believe that was 34 years ago. I thought the Temple would have been more reconstructed by now. It looks the same with just that 1 piece. Thanks for the great tour and bringing back so many fond memories. I visited there about 7 times. Back then it was the equivalent of 90 cents US to see everything. $1 = 2,200 Turkish Lira then. Thanks again.

You can go to the city center of Izmir(and also lots of different points of the city) from this train station for 6.5 Turkish Liras. This public transportation system has a 140km of a rail line. It starts from Alsancak(which is near to Agora ancient city and Kemeralti bazaar) and it ends in Seljuk. It is quite cheap if you are a student in Turkey and citizens use this trains every day.

Do you have clips behind the scene so we may have an idea on how is it like to talk to locals, how to get to one place to another. I traveled before alone just to see if I can make it, and I did and it's fulfilling to overcome something but there are times I felt not good... Anyway your videos are great. Hello, I am an american and will be be traveling through turkey with a friend of mine (both Males), starting in the east near Şanlıurfa (Gobekli Tepi) and ending in Istanbul. We are going to stop in Cappadocia and Pummukale and Ephesus… and are looking for more ancient, beautiful sites in between. We are traveling to learn about the ancient history of the world and to take pictures to help people learn about these places. If anyone could point us in the right direction for amazing places to stay or tips for our travel, I would greatly appreciate it. We are both Vegan too (don’t eat animal products) so any tips for finding food that meets our diet would be very much appreciated. Turkey looks beautiful and It is my hope that we can connect with kind, loving people on this journey and build a peaceful world for us all to thrive in. Blessings, thank you
