@@paulrodsted3905 Michael asked Paul what to invest his money in and Paul suggested music. Michael said "i'm gonna buy your songs" but neither he or Beatles' producer George Martin thought he meant it. As we all know by now Michael did by the Beatles catalog to Paul's and George's surprise. This caused some frictions between Paul and Michael. Today Paul owns the right to some of the earlier songs and the later ones belongs to SONY/ATV but in 2026 Macca will get a chance to buy the rest of the songs.

Michael Jackson is not really on the same level as McCartney, at least not from a musical/songwriting perspective. Michael Jackson wrote (mostly co-wrote) a handful of really good songs but I wouldn't put him on the same level as the Beatles, James Brown, David Bowie or other legends. Success in itself doesn't mean much, otherwise we'd have to call Justin Bieber one of the best musicians in recent history.

I can’t believe you don’t know the legendary Paul McCartney! He was a Beetle for goodness sake! He and John Lennon wrote some of the most amazing songs off the rock era! Paul also had major success with his band “Wings” after the Beatles and before his solo career! That’s his late wife, Linda, in this video with him, she was also a member of Wings! Michael Jackson could sing soulfully and he could rock out at times, likewise, many hair band singers have soulful voices! Really talented musicians can’t be put in a box because they can do a variety of different genres! Prince is a great example of someone who could be soulful and rock out equally well!❤️❤️

I am sorry, but Michael Jackson DIDN'T have the range in his voice like PAUL McCARTNEY had. Paul had his higher sweet voice like in this video, or the Beatles songs "HERE, THERE and EVERYWHERE, and then listen to the Beatles' song "HELTER SKELTER" where he sings in his lower screamy voice (Helter Skelter is really considered the first "heavy metal" song) ALSO the Beatles' "OH DARLING" where again Paul shows the kind of vocal gymnastics his throat can produce. Michael NEVER sang where his voice sounded like Paul's in "Helter SKelter" or Paul's solo song from the "RAM" album, called "MONKBERRY MOON DELIGHT" where he basically just shredded his voice in that song. So I NEVER considered Michael to much vocal versatility, I love MJ's music, but as for as vocal range and the ability to sound like a totally different person in different songs, he can't compare to McCartney.

Better days for MJ and Paul McCartney... who sang on the song 'The girl is mine' on the 'Thriller' album w/ MJ. 'Say say say' was on Paul McCartney's album 'Pipes of peace'. And then, the acrimony over MJ buying the rights to McCartney's songs in the Beatles' catalogue. Just for the record, Michael Jackson was a huge fan of Kiss and Queen... he was a huge fan of both Freddie Mercury and Paul Stanley.

They had a great friendship going until Paul casually told Michael about how excited he was to be able to buy back the Beatles' music catalog at auction after so many years. Michael responded by outbidding him, claiming that it was a business decision. For Paul it was personal, and the relationship was wrecked forever.

I'm amazed that nobody in the comments so far has mentioned their duet "Ebony and Ivory" that was a huge hit in its day. McCartney's best work was with the Beatles, when he was a superstar beyond all imagination in today's world, but he had a number of good solo albums and lots of hits on his own with his post-Beatles band Wings that he formed with his first wife, Linda. A few of my favorites from them are are "Another Day", "Maybe I'm Amazed", "Junk", and "Jet".

Paul McCartney was already a legend before Michael even came on the scene. For a good chunk of the 60s, Paul was part of a popular foursome known as The Beatles. You've probably heard of them. After their split, he found success as a solo artist, as well as forming a new band, Wings, in the 70s. A few of the great hits he had during that time include "Band On the Run", "Silly Love Songs", "Jet", and the James Bond theme "Live and Let Die".
