You are the best watch reviewer I've ever seen. I mean,seriouly. I have to watch hundreds of this kind watch review video daily due to my job,and I have to say most of them are just advertisment cramming you boring content raher than a true review. I like the way you review a watch from a watchmaker's angle , and this is exactly a customer needs. Kind regards.

Your comment has made me smile. I am flattered you would think such a thing and would love to know what you do if you have to suffer watching reviews for a living! I’m pleased my watchmaking angle is appreciated. I’m coming from the vintage watch world so looking at new stuff is exciting all be it movements are not as thrilling as in many vintage watches. Hopefully this channel may gain some traction in the future because without an audience I can’t get brands interested in what I do, not that all would want me taking their watches to bits😂 Thank you your comment has made my day.

This is my favourite watch that you have reviewed from San Martin Michael. The bracelet looks really good and the detailing is faultless. My only gripe that jumped out at me as soon as I looked at it was the hands. I would prefer the hands to be matching, both square or both pointed. Probably just me but the longer I looked the more it annoyed me. Another well presented review Michael, well done!

You make a good point Clive . I’d say it’s not for everyone. I should have mentioned it in the video. Joy is that being a NH35 you’re not short of aftermarket hands (or dials) to make this watch into whatever you’d want.

Thank you Mark. I have to say the quality keeps on improving with this brand. Some designs will be winners and some slow burners but they are becoming a force to be reckoned with. Taking up that 200-300$ place that Seiko decided to leave empty by upping all their prices . You’re the second commenter to say about the hands. NH35 means you can mod this one to your hearts content ! Thanks for watching this one

Not a fan of the curved grid on the dial (but really well made), but love the look of the bracelet and bevel (hopefully the case gets another outing with a different dial). What size wrist would this one fit at full expansion?

To my eye, in your vid, it appears to be a standard 28.5mm diameter, which would be great as that is the most available size for NH35 dials. I hope to use this case and bracelet for a mod. San Martin should produce bracelets besides their watches. Not everyone is into homage watches. But that bracelet is amazing. (That said. The quality of the watch itself is surprising.)

Great job and nice review. Look foreward to them always. I think maybe a bezel insert could be fit around the crystal? Wouldn't rotate but if one could fit, I think the look could be improved..... 😊

to fit a bezel you would need to redesign the case to accommodate it.

I have a few SM watches now and I do rate them. Value and build quality are epic. Interested in your comments about the PT5000. I have heard they are often not properly lubricated and QC not as good as the Swiss ETA on which they are based. I have always gone NH35 as a result with Chinese watches to be safe . Do you rate the PT?

That's a great looking watch! If it had a date window it would be in my collection. I need a date and a ghost position just doesn't do it for me. Dial symmetry be damned, I want the feature! I am new to the channel and I really like the reviews. To start, far less annoying than many Bri'ish RU-vidrs. Especially love the perspective and attention of a watchmaker looking over these products. Any rube can read the spec sheet into a camera but it takes real knowledge to give some of the observations I've seen on here.

Hi Mike! Thanks for showing the endlink differences, I really appreciate it. I don't know if it will fit my SN026GA or not, but if they make this bracelet available separately, I'm going to pick one up. I agree the bezel looks very wide and the dial a little small. Not horrible in my opinion, just off a bit. I also find myself preferring the PT5000. I like the smoother sweep and a watch with one is usually a little thinner than one with the Seiko movement. Thanks pal. Hard to say if they will sell the bracelet on its own but you know I am going to ask my contact that very question! It’s a nice watch, not for everyone but looking as closely as I have in this review you can see their quality is improving to the point it’s getting hard to find fault other than design inspiration.

Great review as always. With SM watches, I guess you're paying for the aesthetics. From what I've seen in your other reviews, the build quality is always good, and the movement is a known quantity, so it's a case of whether you like the looks at that price.

I think a few people have said that about the dial. Someone wanted the dial size so they could buy the watch and swap out the dial.!

I really find it very funny ho so many reviewers hate so much the ghost position. I understand it is not purist, but I even like knowing there is a date complication underneath.

Its not an issue but an annoyance that the manufacturers do not use the NH38 which is the no date version. Its more appropriate, readily available and equally cheap especially bought in bulk.

The dial reminds me of a basketball and that not a bad thing. 😊 Unfortunately i cant get over the wrong movement. I dont understand why they keep making watches without the proper movement. You can say, its nothing right. But what do i feel that my hard earned money will be spent on a manufacturer that doesn't respect me. They can keep giving excuses but other manufacturers are now using the nh38 when needed. Anyways thank you for the video, was wondering how are the tolerances on the bracelet in general..?

Sorry for late reply. Yes an NH38 would be a better choice but SM just do not use them. I think they must have bought a significant amount of NH35's and are ploughing through them. I have questioned this but I do not get a reply. As for bracelet tolerance, they are well made and I have no complaints.

Hmm...sad to say not keen on the second hand there's not enough contrast and I would have liked a date window maybe at the 5 o'clock position? Im a big fan of what you do Mike but another SM!

Fair enough. I had these two to do back to back at their request for the sale. I now have to focus on some repair work and restoration videos to complete so probably wont be much up on here for a short while anyway.

Another fantastic review 👍. I was very interested to see that dial from the back. I believe oil pressing is a technique where the thin metal is placed over a former and hydraulic pressure is applied evenly using oil to force the metal into the pattern cut into the former. Also nice to see how the indices are applied. I have the blue dial GMT with the same case and I love it, it is beautifully made and comfortable to wear.

I would be all over this watch at 42mm. They're making too many small watches, it would be nice to have a few at 41 and up for bigger people. The bracelet is gorgeous

I don’t have the dimensions but it sits on an NH35 so any dial for that movement . There are literally 1000s in the modding world Namoki mods for instance

Just remember Mike that the Nh series opened up the cheap watch market with a quality movement at a great price. Without them we would still be knee deep in poor quality knock off movements. Nh series raised the bar by a mile. Just my opinion though. ... 😁

I was thinking about getting this one, until I realised they ripped off the Wolbrook Outrider Automatic with the case, bracelet and hands. Then they just swapped out the dial for a tweaked Patek Nautilus derivative and voila! "original design". 😑

I had never heard of Wolbrook but yes it’s pretty much the same. Always hard with this sort of thing as everyone is copying each other. The case might now even be Wolbrook . Looks more like a vintage skin diver case to me.

Personal taste I guess. Most watches actually don’t have lumed second hands. The ones I have the do , in reality do I look at seconds hand at night when glowing. The answer is no. I don’t really ever look at a second hand and I change watches daily as I have stupidly amassed over 200 of them now

? Because we like the idea of mechanical watches. Little machines that tell the time . It’s incredible engineering. You tell me what mechanical device is more reliable? A tiny movement that runs 24/7 for decades without any meaningful maintenance. Honestly there is nothing mechanical more efficient than watches. Still not convinced then buy a F91w Casio digital watch for £15. It will always be accurate, have all the features and reliability. Only the rubber strap will fail.
