I bet whoever inherited this collection tried to sell it to a Pawn store and they only would take the silver war nickels so they cashed in the rest to the bank. If they would have went to a coin shop they could have gotten a few bucks for the 1938 and 1939 series nickels along with the key date 1950 D. They probably would have gotten more for complete albums like you are building.
Let's have a moment of silence for the person or family member that cashed those in for face value. 😔 About 20% of those were coins I wouldn't mind having in my Jefferson Nickel album or mounted up in 2x2s as spares and extras. Congratulations on the 1950D Rob. 👍 It was a hard to find coin in circulation even back in the mid to late 1960s.

Have not found a box like this in a few years! Great find! I did find a dump one time had all the silver.s for a set 34 proofs a 50.d a full set from 38-61 in beautiful shape and 12 buffs with a bunch of 62-82.s that you could tell was opened up out of the mint rolls and dumped into a coin counter. I then asked for a box of quarters from the same bank they could only do 20 rolls but i did find 7 silvers. I did go to another bank to get rolls to go back and trade for more rolls but sadly all they had left was rolls of new quarters. Someone or a business got some silver im sure. Best find ever i found a small town bank about 10 years back looking for ike dollars and she came out of the vault with 7 morgans! One was a key date beautiful toning. But Rob shows us never give up still so many great boxes left to find. Thanks Rob!

15 finds in one roll (2 times), 1938-D, 1951-S, 1939-D, 1950-D, 1938-S, 1950, 4 buffalos, 116 finds, what!?!? Best nickel box I’d ever seen. What beautiful coins you got though. What an amazing nickel box. I’ve never had any as good nickel boxes but I’m not giving up. I have videos of a great box I had. I found 250 wheat pennies in one box. 246 in 5 rolls, over 80 1943-Ds.
Great video the box was awesome. That 1950D is a really cool find. There might be silver quarters at the same bank. Possibly a huge collection dump. There could be cool finds in other types to.
Wow! This was a treasure trove and it put my first box to shame!!!! This box scratched my nickel itch and made it itch even more. Gonna double up my nickel order when I pick up my box of halves!!! This was a fun watch! Thanks for sharing :)

I've been skipping the last bit of nickel hunts. Saw this title, and new I had to watch. Sadly, I was busy, and remembered I needed to come back to check it. Feels like yesterday series 1 book just started. Time flies.

Incredible box Rob! What a thrill to follow along! Those boxes don't come by every day. The last 20,000 nickels has been similar for me. Lots of unexplained borderline mint state nickels. My 230,000 nickels update I found 5 semi key dates. Absolutely unreal. I am long over due for a key date. It has been over 40,000 nickels and I usually find a key date roughly every 18,000 nickels. I'm hoping for a 1939-D or 1943-D
I do half dollars mostly. But, I do get a couple boxes of nickels for my wife to go through. She was watching with me and wants to know when she will get a box like that! I told her it can happen but you never know when or if it will. GL/HH
