This was a great head-to-head. RX-3s are kind of rare in the US and it's always good to see them competing out on the track. I'm assuming the Commodore would be our Chevy SS?
No not that model its actually an Opel (GM Germany) Senator with a facelift at the front and rear. Redesign facelift was done by Holdens (GM Australia) design facility. Most of the holden models except the two last models Holden manufactured are Opel chassis, with facelifts done the cars in Australia then fitted with GM American Engines.
Commodore looks to be either a VP or VR model. Engine likely to be either the Aussie made 5ltr V8 it came with or swapped to a later LS1. Commodore has been developed from the generic Opel platform but no Opel parts, suspension or drivetrain will swap with one.
