That is something I cannot fathom, having seen my share of it in Iraq this is far beyond my comprehension!! He absolutely had someone watching over him. Those scumbags picked a fight with the wrong one on that day!!!
Another badass interview!! I love listening to guys tell their stories before they've told it half a dozen times for civilians and as a civilian. It's raw and unpolished but it means you get to hear the emotion of the moment they're talking about. When the person interviewing is as solid as Ryan to keep the timeline on course it's even better!
Ryan, terrific interview with the amazing stud Sgt. Plumlee. His heroic courage in battle notwithstanding I’m taken by his clear-eyed, patriotic, agnostic view of the political scene. His view ( and cattle ranch background ) reminds me of a statement that stuck with me from retired 4 star Marine General James Mattis when referring to the foundational principles and values of America as his motivation toward duty, “ I rode for the brand.”
I have no words for this episode.... I'm crying, I'm laughing. I'm crying. I'm laughing. On repeat! What an amazing episode. An even more amazing worrior!
MarForRec guys are the real deal. Me being a Raider and my best brother a Force Recon Bubba from the Rock I know. These men are the quiet professionals. I'd take a Force platoon over a SEAL Platoon every time.
From down under in Aus. Love listening to the stories I do a lot of long driving to fishing destinations and the stories help pass the drive time. Thanks to the hero’s for their service and sharing their stories.
Great story thanks for sharing. I can't relate to your combat time, here, but I can relate to growin up on a farm and my old man gettin pissed every four years when I re-upped and didn't come back home to bale hay and hoe tobacco. Goin out the first time in civvies with new buds from every where, ha thanks for bringin back that memory. When I was an E4, I went to Saudi with a handful of NCO's from my unit to backfill another unit who didn't have enough people. One of the NCO's was named Earl Walker. Just to mess with one of the guys in the host unit, I got to callin him Uncle Earl and the nickname stuck even after we got back to home station, pretty much until he retired a few years later. Good dude- guys named Earl are salt of the earth. Thanks for sharin your story. Salute!
Great episode, I did my grenade trick, it kills every time had me roaring. I pulled my knife, 😂, a comedian and warrior. Bless him and all our soldiers. Served in the 80’s and wanted to fight but now happy I don’t have to carry those memories. 🇺🇸
I was in country then, remember hearing the rumors about a 6’7” BEAR of a Green Beret ripping apart the Taliban who overran the Air Base! Now I know the story, he was only 6’ lol!! I had friends loose all there gear in a transient tent when that VBIED went off. They were at the gym. Some guys are drawn to fire others run from it. He did what he joined to do, kill Fkn bad people. They found each other that day! I Salute you brother, your a true legend of a Badass!
What a Great American! I recently met Todd Smalenberg a Recon Marine and former contractor for the state department. He would be a great interview. Also, he lost a leg in service to this country. Semper Fi from a Hollywood Marine !
At 1:43:30 you can see just how truly blown away and impressed Ryan is by what he is hearing! As am I and I’m sure everyone else listening! This guy is a true Warrior and Hero! I can’t think of a finer example!
Sleep 8 hrs a day‽ WHAT!?! i just 'google'd the amojnt of sleep they say one gets in basic. Said 7-8 hours a night, most nights! Lol-) NO. When and Where are Yall doin this 'training' at?
Do you expect every guest to spend their own money on a high quality microphone? Or is Ryan supposed to send a professional set up to all distant guests via the mail? The audio you get is the audio available
Medal of Honor winner, he can marinate in that cigar smoke as long as he likes. lol. This comment was a joke, it was not meant to give you a hard time.
You can tell at the end despite his humor about his time in combat he definitely has some real emotion about all of this I hope he and his peers are getting the help they need These men keep are willing to give up their lives for all of us and instead of giving billions to illegal alien criminals and sex offenders we should be using that money for these heroes
Drew Dix is the man Guy was a one man wrecking crew He went and saved his lady friend from certain torture and death those VC that attacked her picked the wrong lady that day
His audio was making this noise for much the video that was driving me crazy. Im glad i stuck it out. One of the best combat stories I've heard. Appreciated
And the Glock did most of the work! But seriously how many S vests have been bipped ON A GUY with a scar 20. This is right up there with the Mike Day story in the badass category in my opinion
50:00 The portion regarding 'formative moments' makes the phrase "if your not part of the solution, you're part of the problem" ring in my mind. For me, taking indirect fire was frustrating because I wasn't killing the guy trying to kill me. Better scared and proactive, than idle and seething. Thank you for your example. 🫡
