Sometimes on adventures you get in a little deeper than you anticipated. This trip was no exception. We headed out late in the afternoon expecting to make quick time through the Ouachita's. Most roads in this area are well maintained and the water crossing have low water bridges. This was not the case for one portion of road however and we found ourselves fording 3 feet of water. This was a real test to the off-roading capability of the Chevy Suburban as well as our homemade camper. Everything turned out great though and we had a fantastic time exploring the Ouachita National Forest.

The water may have come in through the door pressure vents. They are rubber plastic vents that can be seen if you take off the rear bumper. They flap open when you close the doors to relief pressure in the cabin

It's awesome that you do this with your entire family. I'm hoping to be able to do similar trips with my grand children in my Yukon XL.

Yes those are on the camper, I utilized old wiring through the door hatch to make those work.

Are z71 better than lt/ls? Also giving me great ideas for my suburban, and fun things to do with the family.
@trove1312
@trove1312 7 месяцев назад
Not really, most of the differences are cosmetics or won't matter if you do a basic lift anyway. The z71s have skid plates and are more likely to have the G80 locker in the rear end but I've seen LT's with both of these as well. LS is a little less likely to have either of those. The rest is just roof rack, body cladding, and step rails. I think they had different shocks from the factory. They also have slightly heavier duty rear coil springs.

Airing down your trailer tires just makes it harder to pull but it will make it ride better

We are running leveling keys ont he front and h2 springs on the back. Overall we’re lifted about 2.5 up front and 1.5 in the back. Running Cooper STT Pro tires in 285-70-R17 I believe
