It's not so easy.You need a rider,or some riders,three,maybe four to make a train.These guys must be fast and strong,with the last one being often a sprinter himself. This riders trained during winter to do this special and intense effort. Girmay prolonged with Intermarché.Sure,it will be talking bout that for next year. But there's also negative things about a train.Because Girmay is not a pure sprinter,but he is more than a sprinter.In junior categories,he won Evenepoele and also Pogacar.He will need some riders to help him for some difficult races like Le Ronde(Tour des Flandres)
@brendanluongo4892
@brendanluongo4892 2 года назад
@@johnrectangle6034 this isn’t necessarily true and there are guys on intermarche who are strong enough to lead girmay out. As a casual spectator, what is, as was mentioned in the video the risk of catching the breakaway too early? What does it matter whether he's chased down 30 or 60 km before the finish?
@BernardHChrist
@BernardHChrist 2 года назад
Basically they kind of want a mouse to catch. If the peloton’s on the front on a flat stage, everyone gets twitchy about who’s doing the work etc, it’s almost like there’s too much time to think. Having a breakaway, even solo, gives you a short term goal - so best take your time reeling him in on a rather deathly stage like today. Hope that helps!
@rafytafonso
@rafytafonso 2 года назад
I'd also add something to what has been said. When there's a breakway, it means that anyone that wants to escape the peloton still has the breakaway riders to beat, which may not be easy as they have the opportunity to sit on the wheel of the fresher riders and then beat them on the line. On the other hand, if they catch the breakawy too soon (60 or so km to go), it means that there's a stage up for grabs for anyone who escapes the peloton. Generally, the pace set by the peloton is different if there's 60 or 30km, meaning teams won't chase as hard at 60km to go , as they'd have nothing left in the last 10-15km.
@darrelduke

In bunch sprints if you keep getting top 5 it's called "consistently losing" He needs a team better suited for leadouts!! You need more than one leadout man. You need 3 or 4 riders in a leadout train. ONE guy is not going to get you where you need to be very often unless he is a veteran like Renshaw and even then Renshaw had help so Bini needs a team that is trained and familiar in this discipline but he is too young and not PROVEN yet so he's not going to get a team built around him anytime in the next 2 years. He is still learning and not learning what he needs to learn. POSITIONING IS EVERYTHING!!

Using the word "epic" to describe anything about today's stage is a real stretch. You might say Cav experienced an "epic fail" - dropped off with 200 to go after not breaking a sweat for 2 days in a row, and getting soundly beaten (can't claim he was tired or out of position).
