Making it simple...In order: Rasputin was the first modern riformist under the zar empire, Stalin was the cruel dictator who made Russia an industrialized superpower ruling through fear and terror (and defeat Hitler), Lenin made the revolution of the 1917 that ended the old regime creating the U.R.S.S. and tried to create the perfect comunist revolution as an alternative to the capitalism and his contraddictions without poverty (that' why he's so mad with Stalin). Gorbachev was the premier who ended the cold war alone and decide it was time to make peace with USA, trasform the comunism, promove the transparency and make the government more democratic (basically a fucking hero) and Putin...well, is Putin. (I'm italian, sorry for my english)

I thought Stalin killed it. Not only were his lyrics shocking and historically accurate, but it just sounded so cool. So while I hate him in real life, his part in the rap battle was my personal favorite.

Stalin's line about not saving his son was a reference to the time the Germans captured his son during WWII and offered to trade him for a German general the Russians had captured. Stalin responded with, basically 'why would I trade a lieutenant for a general?'. IIRC, Stalin's son died in a POW camp before the end of the war.

This isn't meant to be a knock because history doesn't usually go deep into it, but I always think it's great when people discover how heartless Stalin actually could be.

The third guy was Vladimir Lenin who was the dictator before his death in 1924. After taking power Stalin went against almost everything that Lenin had stood for. The fourth guy Mikhail Gorbachev was most well known for his birthmark and the drastic reforms he was tje seventh and last leader of the Soviet Union. And 5th and finally was Vladimir Putin with whom you all seemed/should be familiar.

okay, I don't mean to be rude. With that said I think you guys should look up who the battles feature.

There seems to be some confusion. Here is a quick cheat sheet. Rasputin: Guy with beard. Banged the Tsar's wife. They thought he saved their kids lives through magic. He was supposedly killed a bunch of times because nothing stuck. Stalin: Guy with big moustache. Took over after Lenin. Psychopathic dictator. Turned the Soviet Union (Russia) into a horror movie. Lenin: Bald guy in the red suit. Overthrew the Tsar (king, royal family) and executed the entire blood line including the children. Took over, brought in communism. It was an improvement over the Tsar. Gorbachev: The bald guy with the crazy birthmark on his head. He was the last Soviet Leader during the Cold War. The Soviet Union collapsed while he was in charge. Putin: Shirtless guy. Former and Current Russian President. Democratically elected. Former KGB (Secret Police, kinda like the CIA).

You've really gotta know history to appreciate how well done this rap battle was. For instance, Rasputin was a womanizer and threatened to corrupt Stalin's wife in the battle... but Stalin drove his wife to kill herself IRL, so he really didn't care. Also, "Hip Hop Chowder Red Over White" is a reference to the Russian Civil War with the Communist Reds fighting the Czarist Whites. There really was very little filler in this RB.
