Hello everyone, this video "Epic restoration OF OLD AND RUSTY Lamp to Fuel (hydrolysis)", you will see the restoration of an old fuel lamp that we have found in an antique market, it had no bumps and the glass was in good condition, although the body had a lot of rust.
After disassembling the first option was to remove rust with hydrolysis, a simple process that does not damage the material as much as sandblasting, then we began with the paint job applying anticorrosive and then the color, the rest of the pieces were polished renewing their epic shine and achieving an amazing restoration. We decided to use it as a decoration creating a retro style in the garden area.
We hope you enjoy the video as much as we do while making it ....
A little history about this type of lamp.
The kerosene lamps were created in 1910 in Berlin by Max Graetz, president of the Ehrich & Graetz company.
Kerosene lamps spread rapidly in rural areas. There was no family that did not aspire to have one. In each house in the small towns, a lamp hung. Perhaps their illumination radius did not exceed 10 meters, but they were a luxury, compared to the small light of the lamps or lighters. They lit up until 1980, then the gas lamp arrived until they were being forgotten, gradually relegated to the spaces of old junk and useless tools. From those places I rescued this lamp.
Characteristics
The lamp contains a small pressurized air pump that is compressed by a side piston. The air-oil mixture is kept at a pressure of approximately 2 bar. This pressure is necessary for the correct operation of the internal carburetor of the lantern. The carburetor ignites at a temperature of approximately 250 ° C where the oil evaporates at enough pressure to burn itself and constantly keep the flame burning. Oil in the pressure chamber continues to flow out through the carburetor holes until it reaches the speed of sound (300 m / s). This phenomenon causes the lamp to emit a characteristic 'hiss'. Some versions of the lamp have a small pressure gauge incorporated to check the pressure in the tank.
