Note: This system is not meant to be perfect!! It's to provide a very quick and easy way to get a relatively accurate estimation of the quality of your gear. Flats clearly do not have 0 value, and there are fringe cases (example a 20 speed ring with 3 flats), where the formula would indicate that it's average but it's clearly not! Also, the idea is not that equipment with a high point value is good on every hero! The point system only evaluates the quality of a single piece of gear's rolls. Having a 65 point piece doesn't mean put a 40 effect resist amulet on Assassin Coli over a 50 point piece with subs that actually matter! High points or not, the subs must be relevant to the hero you're equipping it on! In the interest of transparency, I am sharing a link to the Reddit where some other people (LedgeEndDairy in particular) have proposed more accurate methods of calculating a piece of gear's quality, for those of you who don't consider the "quick and easy" value good enough ;) : www.reddit.com/r/EpicSeven/comments/geliw9/how_to_rate_your_epic_seven_gear_simple_formula/
I stop playing epic seven a year ago because I couldn't really understand what gear was better. I came back and started over and researched more gear info and still dont understand. But after watching your video, you actually gave me very simple info and how to know what gear is good. Thx for this awesome video you definitely have my subbed.
Just play for fun man. You'll never reach these whales who play. I just try to enjoy the game for what it is. As free to play it really hard to be on there level. But that's ok. I enjoy for what I have. Very fun. I have a ton of 5 stars got very lucky. Building my designer lilbet now. Have a ton of fun
As a new player your guides are so much easier to follow than the other guides, just wanna say thanks you made my life so much easier in this complicated game
Ive seen several gear guides and i have to say this is by far the best one because of the formula putting the gear rolls in terms of math is so much help. Thanks for the video.
This is the best guide/explanation on how to rate pieces of gear as a whole I've come across. I knew about he ranges of rolls, but could never find an explanation on what makes a piece good or bad as a whole. This makes sense and will help me a lot. I've been saving gold and avoiding rolling b/c I just wasn't sure how to judge when to keep rolling, or a whole maxed piece altogether. Gonna be more comfortable rolling now. Thanks! Am very glad you popped up in recommended.
This is straight up the best gear guide I've seen. I like your calculation too, practical and close to what I do when I'm eyeballing gear to see if I should keep rolling it.
I understand this vid is a year old, but I cannot thank you enough for it, the way you explained it was perfect, I’ve tried for days to wrap my head around this gear rolling side of the game and your formula has really just given me a lightbulb moment, I finally understand thanks to this video and your gear scoring formula !
Ik this is an older video, but I'm a pretty new player. Finally trying to increase my "good gear" selection and I was struuuggling to understand the formula until I seen this video. Thank you so much. You made it very simplistic and easy to understand 🙏
This is the best gear tip I have ever watched in alll of epic seven, i like this man, no bull shitting around just to the point and very concise and clear, you deserve 1000000000 subs my man, thank you so much, really helpful video👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.
I just started the game a week ago this had made thing so much clear. I havent started farming for gear yet. But man this makes it alot more easier. I was panicking just thinking what is good what is bad. Thank you for the info
This is really amazing. I am on a 1 year hiatus because I can't really understand gearing and gets wiped in arena. A friend wanted me to go back and I did reluctantly, but I did get Straze with the free mystics which boosted my enthusiasm to grind this game again. Your video added to that enthusiasm tremendously. Haha. Subbed!
I'm pretty much on the same boat! One year hiatus, got back 3 weeks ago, got an ML5 from free summons, got my enthusiasm boosted. (Except I got ML Vildred from free daily summons instead) Just keep in mind that those number thresholds are from a year ago, though, before reforging was a think. If the video was released today, you can bet that those number would be at least 20% to 25% higher due to reforging alone. (And that's without counting the one year worth of wyvern 13 that people had since this video was released, nor that fact that sub-stat reroll makes it much easier to get 4 stats that are at least useful, even if the rerolled stats tend to be of a lower "value" than the original. Man, the game seems to be in a much better state now, in terms of QoL improvements. (No more dog-walking, easy "auto-promotes", etc.) But trying to catch up to the current gear standards seems kind of a pain. Especially since I have quite a few pieces that would be considered god-tier by old standards, but they are all from Hell Raids or free lv 75 gear or something and they cannot be reforged, so... Yeah. ^^;
The formula was a useful quick and dirty way to evaluate the gear but it can create weird situations. The first sword showed with good subs but low rolls scores 54, which is not inside the "terrible" range.
Thanks for the video, gear and rolls are something that messes me up a lot. Some times I feel like I understand and I'm on track but just as quick I feel like I haven't a clue of whats good or isn't.
Amazing guide. I just started 2 weeks ago and this really clears things up on how the gear system works. totally going to look at gear with scrutiny from now on
this vedio explain the most confusing thing in my total epic7 playthough! because the equipment system is so chaos, I give up Epic7 years ago, now it's give me new goal!
Amazing. You just upgraded my mindset towards gearing in all games. Flipping the priority to rolls over subs. Now let me roll my subscription over to your channel :)
Sometimes we dont even look at flat stats, but they are better than we think. Sure, percentage stats are better always except in some niche cases. But a lot of times they are pretty close and % is better just by a little bit. And also a lot of times a high roll on a flat stat is better than a medium roll on a % one.
Indeed, it was omitted for simplicity because assigning values to them would be a lot more complicated. But absolutely, to say that flat stats count for 0 isn't perfect, because obviously they do have some value. And as you pointed out, in some cases quite decent value. But it doesn't lend itself well to an instant calculation you can do in 2 seconds =/
I really enjoy all your guides you have done so far, always looking forward to more of your stuff, as I started fresh any of this helps me a great deal.
7:56 Damn I've played since about a month before the first GG collab and thought everything on 85 gear aside from speed was 3-8%. Whenever I got 5% on crit chance I'd be like "Ugh of course... well better than 3 I guess." lol. I've made so many pieces of gear like the chest piece at 16:07 and yeah.. It's sinking in why I don't have gold or charms and why some of my heroes aren't doing well. Thanks for the guide!
The max speed roll is in fact 5 I just had it happen to me and I've been playing this game for a bit over a year. I took a screenshot and everything. I was so shocked I stared at my phone screen for like 2 mins recounting to make sure I wasn't crazy. but my gear was a 78 epic amulet, so idk what the condition is whether its only epic gear or not.
Only downside to the point system is you have to invest before you can tell if it's good. Does it need to be invested into up to lvl 12? Or would 9 suffice
Been watching your channel lately. Know it's an old video but at +6, what score would you consider it okay to keep trying to roll the gear? I was thinking around 25?
I leveled up one of my gear and it all rolled on effect resistance i stopped at 12 but for the sake of the laughs and confirming just how bad or good my luck was i enhanced it to max and guess what? I rolled on effect res once more now its at 40%
Got a question about what gear to start rolling, since most would look for sub stats that go for set gear, ex having crit chance, cdmg, atk or something on a atk set or something...if say a cdmg set gear has 3 substats like crit chance, cdmg and eff res, is that worth +?if so i assume check at +6 and +9 again. And also i assume it matters whats the rolls on the substats at base somewhat? If say that gear had a starting base % of like 2-3%?
Hey there, that's what the rating systems about. Gear can have perfect subs, and still be bad. Gear can have pretty bad subs, and still be pretty decent. For example, let's say you had a speed weapon with attack, speed, crit chance, and crit damage. Sounds sexy right? But let's say you had starting rolls of 4 atk, 1 speed, 3 crit chance, and 4 crit damage. Let's say hypothetically it rolls 5 times into speed with a 1 roll. Now you have a 4 atk, 6 speed, 3 crit chance, 4 crit damage sword. That's garbage. Now say you have a speed sword that starts with 7% crit damage, flat health, and 4% effect resist. Looks garbage, but let's say it rolls 5x into crit damage at max roll, and now you have a 42% crit damage sword. That's still really really good. Hope that helped.
DrSquirrel yea got it now, so just have to do some + atleast to see if worth, also if thats the case say we get like its garbage, what would you recommend to do with it? Extract?fodder or sell?
Looks at video* I wonder how bad my armor is, can’t be that bad- ‘UTTER GARBAGE ARMOR’ ....... Well ok- Changes everything * My character go goes up by 10% I appreciate it TwT
the intresting thing is that the sword you showed at 8:57 (and befor) would be considered kinda good according to the formular but you even said by your self that this would probably be shit if it would roll into spd and ended up at 6 for the last roll so i think the idea by judging your gear by a formular like this is kinda good but atleast im still dont know how to rate my gear properly because even shit gear can roll aboth 50 and is still unusable i think also this formular can only judge gear that is already at lvl 15 and dosent help to sort out which gear is even worth rolling. any tips for this problem?
I've been wondering while rolling for a good gear substats, if u were to use gears with main stats like 3 crit gears to roll do it increases the chances of increasing your gear's crit substats?
Hello! Absolutely loved it. I was in desperate need of this information. I have a question though. Can I trade crit chance% for def% in the formula when rating for a tank character equipment for example, even though def roll range is higher? Sorry if my english sucks, it's not my first language.
Should always chase the stats you need, the formula doesn't tell you anything about whether a piece of gear is good for a certain character, it only tells you about how well the piece of equipment rolled. Crit chance is worth more cause the roll range is lower like you said. But if you're building a tank, of course def % would be more valuable.
Sort of, let's say you're looking for great gear, but you upgraded to +9 and the point total is only like 25 so far. The max a single roll would add would be 8 (or 10 for crit chance, since I simplified the formula and made each point of crit count for 2). So if you get 2 non-crit max rolls you'd end up with only 41 still. So you could add up the points at any enhancement level to determine if it's even possible to get to a high overall point total, and just stop and junk it if you can't. In a way, you can assume that with 5 rolls you can add up to 40 (8x5) points (again not including crit) if you got all max rolls. So your total point total is a combination of the quality of your initial rolls, plus how high you rolled each +3. So if you got a weapon with perfect subs but the lowest initial rolls, plus you low rolled the first two rolls, it will probably end up being pretty bad regardless.
I have a question what is the loop to be able to enhance your gear? How long will it take for you if you have all resources except charms to max a gear?
Hey Doc, I have one doubt only. I've seen your gear is almost all +15. Is there a way for me to adjust this formula for 0 enhancing gear? I've seen some gear I think that might be good in my inventory but the result of the formula is always very low
Formula still applies. Just subtract a max roll from each +3 increment to find out if you can hit the final value. For example, a piece of gear that rates an 8 at +0 is not going to hit 50 even if you get 5x max rolls.
I think for flat stats it should be compared to base stats for the hero. Say the base hp for the hero is 5980 and I roll 598 flat hp on a piece of equipment I know that piece is 10% of the heros hp
He said it's impossible to have a main stat as a substation as well but I have an 100 base attack abyss drake sword and I also have 5 percent of substat attack
You can have a flat main stat and a percentage substat and vice versa. What he said is that you can’t have both type of stats like a percentage attack ring with a percentage attack sub
i find this guide somehow usable but he showed items as an example which were +12 and above not evveery piece diserve to take it to +12 and even less diserve +15 what about formula for the +0/3/6/9 gear?
Ahh.. so the squirrel formula for gear is only applicable for +15 gears. or maybe, we can tweak it as a base to check if we should continue upgrading a gear or not.
It's applicable at all levels :). Just subtract a max roll from each +3 interval. For example, if you're only at a gear score of 20 at +9, you know even with 2 max rolls you'll never get it to 50 so its pointless to keep going. Fodder it!
I still remember when I first started playing Epic Seven and was searching for guides for stuff. "HOW TO QUICKLY 6 STAR YOUR UNITS"....one hour and thirty video of some guy talking about how cute the waifus and husbandos are....
