It was mainly abandoned because the great plague literally dwindled middle earth's population to about half of what it was. Rhovanion, Gondor, Rhun, and Gondor were hit the hardest. While Endewaith, and Dunland were hardly affected.

It's not that scenarios are unbalanced, it's that the walls in M2tw are too easy to overcome and siege equipment is too powerful...

Hey Happy, could I ask you if there is like a ts server for TW players? Can`t seem to find someone to match me, most skilled players tend to play with their friends. So when I fight against randoms I tend to win a little to easy. Counting 45-8 so far. Just watching you guys makes me wanna fight some real opponents! xD

King Jon Stark Agreed, as everyone else should. There ability to run through formations without taking casualities is a huge problem for defenders. It's not so much the overall kills they get, it's the fact that they will go through defensive lines and easily let the orcs through.

I have a suggestion for you apollo and Bob do the siege of Angband from the First Age. high elves, men, dwarves vs uruks, Olga hai, easterlings, and goblins. Reinforcements for the good guys show up after 15 minutes and easterlings show up up after 17 minutes. Good guys need to kill the enemy commander of the orcs of Angband or the entire army to ein. bad guys need to kill the Elven generals to win

in my opinion, a good way to balance those scenarios, is to give defenders a ton of ammo for their ranged and lower that of attackers (i mean, assuming the siege went of for a while before the attack, skirmish would have depleted the attackers ammo reserves; while the defenders can manufacture their own ammo because they're in the city)

So, this is how Third Age works: Third Age Reforged: to make massive battles, and it is only focused on battle, either singleplayer or online battles. No campaign. But there is a campaign, anyway. Third Age Total War: I think it is more focused on campaign, and has a Fellowship campaign. The battles are very cool, and this version of Third Age has Sauron and the Balrog! (It is the version 3.2). 3.2 will always be my favorite!

All I hope about this is that it doesn't crash on me. TATW was amazing, but every time I was about to engage Mordor it crashed >|( Sauron hax, derp! Anyway, I hope that, whatever the problem was, that they've fixed it now! If so, please let me know, anyone? :) And for those with whom this game IS working, have lots of fun!

I swear sometimes the pathfinding and what the AI will do is just ridiculous, I play DaC and sometimes I'll tell my cav to run back the way they charged from and they'll just scatter sporadically :P

Always when an army attacks a City Fortress and any other fortifications, the attacking army needs at least a 5-1 superior in troops. But even better at 10-1 odds. When ever an attacking force had just 2-1 or 3-1, they usually could take the walls, but not the rest of the city. They simply had not enough troops to push the rest of the way. At least, 3-1 deaths of the attackers would be killed just taking the walls...So, the rest of the army could then push through less defended areas...

Wouldn't it make more sense to give the "Witch Realm Shadows" AKA Khamul's Shadow Rangers from DaC to Mordor. They are easterlings in service to Khamul after all.

You said that the Witcher unit wasn't OP because it tended not to get a super large amount of kills - but from what I've seen, pure killing power isn't where their true strength lies. They're a lot like Trolls in that regard, and other superunits in general - on their own they're powerful but extremely limited in what they can accomplish, but when used in synergy with other units - that is to say, as a part of a larger whole, a complete army - they're devastating force-multipliers and line-breakers. They turn ties and close defeats into decisive victories, provided they're kept safe and allowed to perform their function. You see a lot of this in Tabletop wargaming. Deathstar units are just expensive fodder unless used the right way :P
