EPIC SILVER FOUND! So many 90 percenters... I'm still in shock!
I've upped my half dollar boxes per bank to hunt more boxes per bank per week and GOOD THING I DID! So - I picked up 4 boxes of half dollars from my new bank, and let me tell you... BOTH of these half dollar boxes were Awesome BUT one was EPIC! It contained some serious silver and made for one of the best boxes I have ever hunted or seen for that matter!
In this video, I will share all of my finds with you including all of the Silver coins we found with NEARLY ALL OF THEM being 90 Percenters!
I managed to fill ROLLS of silver, as well as... well, just watch the video to see what I found!
I decided to set up the camera and record each and every roll this hunt since it had so many enders! Plus, I needed to save time on editing so I could get this video out to you all in less than 30 minutes... I hope you don't mind the video length and still share in my excitement as we found SILVER, roll after roll after roll!
Do you only search for silver or do you also check for proofs, errors and low mintage years?
How many silver half dollars do you average in a box? Do you mostly see 40% silver or 90% silver? What's your BEST find in a box of halves?

My grandfather once showed me a burlap sack he had full of probably 300 pre 1900 silver dollars, my little 10 year old brain could barely handle it. Even more mind boggling when I see how excited you get in videos like this...

Customer at my work paid with a 1951 S.. I swiped it up and took it home haha. Not in the best condition, some weird marks on the front. Not sure if it can be cleaned up. Only worth about $8 but still pretty cool!

I always ask the cashiers in gas stations stores etc if they have half dollars. Some times I hit the Jackpot. A few of them act like I am crazy only because they know nothing about coins. Funny thing is last Sunday this one cashier late teens or early twenties tried to tell me that they stopped making half dollars. I laughed and replied they been making half dollars for every year since 1794 and still making them.

Person paid for a $2 lotto ticket with 2 1964 halves, and one Series 1957B $1 Silver Certificate at the gas station I work at... Guess who got to add two 90% halves and a Silver Certificate to their collection... Not gonna bash them, the certificate was in great shape for its denomination and age, so they were probably on hard times looking for anything to help them but still... At least they aren't in circulation... Keep pieces of history out of the hands of the Treasury...

The second box had a total MELT value of $356.82 if the silver price is $15.82. The first box had a total MELT value of $104.29 if the silver price is the same as above. The total melt value for both boxes was $461.11 at $15.82 for 1 ounce of silver If you wait until the price of silver goes back up to $40, the total melt value would be $1165.89.

I just looked through my silver dollar collection and found, 22 JFK Half’s with 90 percent silver, and 82 JFK Half’s with 40 percent silver. So Thankyou Rob. GIVE THIS MAN A LIKE! (or at least around that number of coins)

Yes, they're out there. Last week I got a box containing 1 Ben Franklin, 1 90% Kennedy, and 34 40% Kennedys. Finding 36 in one box was great but you finding 73 in one box is awesome. Way to go !!

I don't really just like this video...I absolutely loved it!! That is so awesome to have found so much silver in those boxes!!! You know, I recently got 3 rolls of halves from my local bank and didn't even score a NIFC but when I spent the halves at different locations I smiled at the different reactions I got from the cashiers. One cashier wasn't even sure what they were as if they'd never seen a half dollar before. Another cashier's eyes lit up and a smile crossed his face and I could tell he hadn't seen halves in a long while. Then another cashier swapped the halves for cash out of their pocket as they wanted to save them all. I got a kick out of their reactions and this is one coin type the mint should continue to make!! Loved the video Rob.

this motivated me to go to my local bank (not giving details because I want to be able to do this again). I called and asked for a box ($500), the woman was very kind and promptly told me that she only had $210 worth. I found $51.00 face value of 40% Kennedy's! She asked if I collected coins, I told her no that it was for a friends dads restaurant. scored over 100 silver coins in one box! My first few boxes didnt yield any but this keeps me motivated.

It is worth mentioning that in 1988-89 I was working at a strip mall shop and went to the local bank to make change for the store AND get my daughters their allowance money (I gave them halves). The one roll I got was ALL Walkers and Benjis. I RAN back to the bank. They had two more rolls which were ALL WALKERS AND BENJAMINS. I have NEVER gotten a better find.

based on what google is telling me today, the 55 90% plus 18 40% gets you a melt value of around $382. altogether you took out 73 coins from a batch of 2000. That means you'll rewrap and send back 1927 coins, or $963.50 $963.50+$382=$1345.50 which means there was $345.50 in profit in these boxes, assuming you could get melt value prices. Another way to look at it is that you're around 2/3 of the way to another box, obviously each is a gamble and if it were me I'd keep my earnings away from my costs. Honestly looks like a better hobby/moneymaking scheme than opening pokemon cards or amazon boxes, whenever I'm looking through old coins I get the feeling that the coins want to be seen, handled, appreciated.
