I love how she is acting in a manner reminiscent of Afrodite in reverse. She is beautiful and scary sitting in the jaws of the beast, just like Afrodite is lovely and beautiful sitting in the giant shell. Just like mythos portrays her as a beautiful woman with wolf heads. Love this so much
@@r-171 also in another telling of scylla’s myth, the goddess-queen of the sea, amphitrite, is the one who curses scylla due to her husband poseidon having a thing for her. so yeah, it’s one of the many times gods and goddesses play a role in pitting against each other
@r-171 Yes, a SPECIFIC god. Not "the Gods". Cause there are times many of the Gods get together to do something. Gotta be specific. Also whether Circe is goddess or not depends on the myth version. Sometimes she's just an immortal witch, but not a goddess.

Oh I love the little detail implying Ody saw Scylla and she saw him. However they did nothing, it’s like they gave each other knowing nod but they BOTH know what’s about to happen and they are both okay with it. UGH CHILLS I LOVE IT
@@mercuresis Okay so there is a lot of moments I kinda took it as Ody noticing Scylla. Around this 0:30 mark. Basically the whole part with Eury confessing he opened the bag. There is a specific moment where Ody is looking AT the water and Scylla is like playfully singing that moment is so that’s around like 0:51 I took it as Ody noticing her for the first time and that’s why Scylla starts getting playful and friendly because a monster recognizes another monster. That’s just how I took it at least
I love how your managed to have Scylla maintain some traits of when she was a nymph, such as the humanoid figure and feminine features. Also really enjoy how her 'six heads' look like dogs in accordance to other sources.
Okay. I normally don't comment. But what the actual FUCK! That design is absolutely amazing my dude!!! From Scylla's human form being the beast's tongue, to how every head targetted the men with the torches-- THE WAY SCYLLA GRABBED THE MAN AND SHUT THE MOUTH, ONLY TO BE COVERED IN BLOOD- IT WAS SO AMAZING!!! Your Scylla design is just. Chef's Kiss.
2:37- That ending, when Scylla and Ody were looking at each other...it's almost like while Scylla is saying "you and I", Odysseus is listening to her and agreeing with her by saying, "aye aye", as he bow his head in farewell. Whether that was the intent or not, I like this recontextualization, because Scylla started the song by singing to Ody, and then Ody ends it by singing to Scylla, rather than simply echoing her words.
Can I just say . . . I love the Eurylochus' curly hair. A lot of Scylla animatics have him drawn with the same old buzzcut which is probably his original hairstyle but with how long they've been travelling, it's realistic to think that he wouldn't have had the time to properly trim it. Much like how Odysseus' hair has grown longer, it's cool to see you doing the same for our lovely second-in-command :) Also: the expressions are everything, and Scylla's design is SO FRIGGIN COOL LIKE WHAT- I would definitely give those serpent heads a pet.
God Ody only having one eye showing bc he's become just as monstrous as the creature he once fought, his path mirroring that which he once swore not to be. Also god that scylla design is so damn good, *love* the main head getting to eat as she grabs the sailor. 10/10, chef's kiss

i'm always a sucker for scylla designs, since i love scary monster girls. and WOW, your scylla is one of my top favourites. the dog heads on the serpentine necks, which is a callback to how scylla has dogs on her waists in classical myth was such a cool feature, and i don't really see anyone add that for animatics, so a point from me! your human scylla being the tongue to the head that looks like a freaky monster (which is canonical to how jorge sees it) was also so cool and she even looks elegant and beautiful, while slaughtering the sailors in cold blood, talk about a true femme fatale! seriously, can't express how much i love this!!

ok this is so good on so many levels but a detail i really liked is that most people only show Odysseus’s hair getting longer, not Eurylochus, but you actually did which i thought was very nice
The reveal that the small figure was a lure was so good!! At first I thought she could change her size, but seeing her full form emerge from the water was so cool! Also the final shot of Odysseus in the water was 👌

I love how the community has been unanimous that Ody had him holding a torch, but someone else took the hit for him, either jumping in to save him or taking his torch.

Your art is so beautiful, and your design for Scylla is GORGEOUS. When Scylla revealed herself, my jaw dropped! Scylla is a terrifying beast. So terrifying seeing her grab the crew by the arm then devouring him, leaving her puppet body to be covered in blood. So incredible.

i love this one because it handles one of the problems i have with so many of the other animatics which is they dont actually show scylla all that much when shes singing even though this is literally scyllas song. you did an incredible job keeping her involved throughout the entire thing and STILL made the reveal of her complete form terrifying

I adore this! Scylla appearing whenever she sings, the way that she looks beautiful, but clearly deformed, then her giant frame with the wolf heads looking for a meal, and herself being the tongue of a large version of her head, just beautiful! Also the way she draged that guy, smiling while he was terrified, and then looked so happy while bathing in blood and singing "Die in the blood where you bathe", just so chilling!
YESSSS this is definitely my favorite Scylla animation so far, i especially love how you made the other heads more Dog-like rather than eel-like (not saying that the artists who did eels are wrong, just my preference!) but fr i love everything about this

The artwork is so strong here (also this is the first time I’ve seen Eurylochus with some hair lol). The use of reflections in the water adds so much (and I love how we don’t get to see how the two react to Eury saying “forgive me”). Eury’s expression realizing what the torches were for was also phenomenal and kinda heartbreaking. Hoping this video doesn’t stay underrated, I know a Mutiny would go so hard with this artwork too

God this song is my top fave out of the sagas. Must be how Scylla’s voice is so hauntingly beautiful and scary at the same time lol. My fave part is how all these different animatics portray Scylla’s appearance, the crews actions, and Ody’s reaction to the “revelation”. Each and every one is so unique and creates different feelings everytime I watch them. GOD I LOVE EPIC!!!
This is my favorite version of the Scylla animatics !! The emotions, regrets and shock on Odysseus face- the design of Scylla herself, it's just all so perfect !!!
What I love most about this is you were able to explain how Eurylochus didn't die despite the fact that Odysseus asked him to light up the torches, and I felt like he would've had a torch himself. Also I love how you made Eurylochus realize that people holding the torches were sacrifices because one of the crew took the torch from him.
2:06 I know how to fully describe it, but I really like this specific scene. Someone just straight up, smacks the torch from his hand and sacrifices themselves for him.

Ohhh! The voice of the Monster here is Scylla! I've seen a bunch of versions of this and somehow only just got that it's more than Odysiuss's inner demons singing while Scylla shreds the crew. I think it was that last reflective moment with the lure looking after the ship which made me realise.
Yooooooooo, the art style is already just. Freaking amazing! But then when she emerged AND SHE WAS INSIDE THE MOUTH AND THE OTHER HEADS POPPED UP! OH MY GOSH! Like every Scylla design I've seen absolutely slaps and this one is no exception 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Finallyyyyyy, someone who not only uses the "Siren" as a lure in the central mouth *and* has the dog heads. I also generally love the framing, especially the shots as they are leaving, with the close-ups on Scylla. Outstanding work, top-tier, new favourite Scylla animation easily!
Love the mania of her just pulling some random dude off the ship and squishing him, like imagine being the poor sod who thought it was over and just got yoinked off the back of the boat
I love you portrayed it so they're in the cave even before the song starts. so when Odysseus says light up six torches it's shows how that action is an execution. Like the men were rowing in the dark before the torches, so they obviously didn't need them.
Help, I can't stop thinking of Scylla, as in the human looking form, being extremely squishy so everytime the main head chomps she gets squished into mush. Like a little toy squishy
Scyllas expressions, and the fact that you incorporate dog heads into the serpents design, makes it one of the most gorgeously haunting animations I’ve seen so far the madness, the grief in her eyes reflected with the tiredness of Odysseus very well done done great job the beautiful colors and the muted tones. I can’t wait to see what you do next.
