Let's see Alive (jekyll and hyde) Hurricane (Hamilton) Dead girl walking (heathers) Upgrade ( be more chill) Hurricane ( Death note musical not Hamilton) Oh God, you have a point
@@RC-xl8se yeah I can't stand his whining. "boohoo my life is so hard because I made really bad decicions whaaaaaa". ...but maybe that's the point of the song? so maybe it's good? but it's no banger for sure.
I desperately want this to be animated in the style of the Prince of Egypt. I have so much concept running through my head every time I listen to these songs.
I don't think the style of the Prince of Egypt would fit but same. Wish Gigi would turn their animatics into a full animation, their style is perfect for Epic in my opinion.
God the screams being snuffed out by the massive thuds of the club gave me the most chills ever that was amazing. And I can’t help but feel bad for Polyphemus when he’s told to be quiet after he asks for help fighting “nobody”
@@HH-lo7jw they killed the sheep not knowing it belong to someone. The moment they learned about him they offered wine as compensation for their mistake
@@HH-lo7jw I'd be mad to, but if I lived on an island and kept foodstock as pets with nothing to tell people that they belonged to me, its understandable that something could happen. I would definitely be mad and demand compensation but killing them over a mistake was cruel and is the reason they had to retaliate
I really like the shocked 'What?' at the end of the first song. It has the perfect level of horror, surprise, and dread. Not overly dramatic, just a realization that they're screwed.
"Whooo hurt you?" "Captain, we should run." "Wait." "Whooo hurt you?" "Captain, please!" "Wait..." "It was these humans. Their leader's named Nobody." "That's a dumb name. Let me get my killing club." "CAPTAIN?!" "Wait..."
of course if odyssey had it written like that, with polyphemus saying "It was these humans. Their leader's named Nobody.", it would hint homer had ran out of ideas and didn't know how to continue🤣🤣🤣
It's been a couple of days and I'm relistening couple of time everyday, and I still have goosebumps on the "watch out" my god I freaking love this saga
If this is to be made into a stage play, I can see the club scene so vividly in my mind. a blacked out stage with focusing lights, with each thump putting another light out until the cyclops sleeps
Notice how Polyphemus goes from "I'll drink your blood here and now as one to one compensation for killing my best friend" to "Ah, I see. You're an ass hole, I'll kill you last." Could have ended with just Odysseus dying, but then he had to insult the guy by implying that his favourite pet was worth a drink of wine. Fresh wine, not even a finely aged vintage! Athena did not teach this man well.
The very first who died was Polites... which is especially tragic since he was convinced to live with open arms... But sometimes ruthlessness is really mercy on ourselves.
I love when polyphemus swings his club in survive they rebound to his song as you can hear that dark tune kinda like when you thought you had hope but realized you were doom from the start.
I always get goosebumps when listening to the Survive Odysseus’ solo and the 600 man motive is just so 🤌🏻🤌🏻 Everything is perfect about this musical too bad I will probably never see it
I don't think it was pride so much as grief and anger, Athena's appearance and words made it worse, she was the last drop on the glass, the thing that made Odysseus finally burst and give himself away saying what he said
Honestly BEST section but when we get to the end of the Album when fav hitters get here, “Get in the Water” I’m gonna be fangirling so hard y’all just don’t understand
It also references Warrior of the Mind Warrior of the mind: "If you're looking for a mentor, I'll make sure your time's well-spent" "Goddess and man, best of friends?" My Goodbye: "You're not looking for a mentor, I'm not looking for a friend" "...what a waste of effort spent" Also, the third-to-last "This is my goodbye!" is sung to the tune of "You are a warrior of the mind"
A friend of mine said the synth effect didn’t quite fit the foreboding vibe and that’s a fine take, but to ME?? BRO Polyphemus has never been fucking scarier oh my God
There was an animation that depicted polyphemus as this eldritch abomination that made this voice SO terrifyingly fitting for the character dude, shit was harrowing from a narrative perspective! Like the sons of poseidon are these cthulu-like creatures with tentacles for mouths n shit dear god
This may be really obvious but Imma still write out my thoughts: The lotus eaters probably must have passed by the cave but some were attacked by Polyphemus so they fleed to the closest island where they found the lotus, which made them high and forget the horror they witnessed.
@@journey9641 Technically, no. I doubt whether they knew about the Lotus's traits or so. Like, Odyseus said in the musical, the lotus controls the mind and never lets you leave, making you go high. I think they didn't know.
They do that in the rest of the songs too. It's brilliant because if anyone doesn't know the name of an important character their introduction is in the background sound. And I absolutely love it
but I recall they did offer their lotuses first. Granted they didn't warn them "Ah hey, giant killing machine over there, pal" but I suppose they were too drugged up to think straight
*Amazing mix! Felt really stressed when I got into work and couldn't stop thinking about personal issues, but this has chilled me out and now I'm working more productively!*
I may be controversial but I am totally in support of Polythemus. I mean he lived on an island causing no real trouble & some humans come to kill his sheep. His FAVORITE sheep! It would be like having a pet pig & someone kills ot then offers you a drink to compensate eating you're best bud. Greek heroes wernt about being "heroic" or virtuous people. It's about being epic at everything you do, no matter how many innocents suffer in you're quest. You're a hero for being badass, nothing else.
That moment when someone unknowingly kills your pet sheep (part of a flock meant to be eaten) so you kill them and their entire city, and then eat them
That's a very good point actually. I feel the same way about Journey to the West. Monkey King also got a lot of free passes for killing people, he got way too much credit than what was actually due.
Listen, we knew Odysseus wasn't gunna be nice when he threw the baby off the wall, plus our man poisoned the wine before he even got told "Yeah I'm gunna eat you LAST since you were the nicest" Greek heroes don't do the whole nice thing, Odysseus was only "nice" by not killing the lotus eaters, which wasn't even really his choice
My head cannon is that the cyclops was going to led Odysseus live in exchange for the wine, but then he made the "eye to eye" joke, to which the cyclops was like "Oh Hades no, I'm not letting you get away with that, you cheeky git".
me too. while yes, he was a monster. he was also the victim in this (mostly). these people come to his home, kill his favourite animal, then try to give him wine like that would equal his favourite pet. next, they could have left. could have tried to run. but no, they chose to fight. getting lots of people killed. then, with polythemus down, instead of leaving him, they attack, blinding him. then, instead of leaving him to suffer alone. His fellow cyclopes leave him, not understanding what he was saying. then athena tries to get the humans to kill him.
I imagine the section where Polyphemus smashes his club down to play in theaters like a giant shadow smashing smaller ones in the background while dust blows from the side of the stage with each swing with vibrations to really sell the impact of each of them. (Since having an actual giant with fast enough repeated swings is kind of impossible)
me just realizing that in remeber them the mythology ais kinda wrong because they escaed by riding on the bellies of them when the other cyclopes showed up (I think!!!)
In the original, Odysseus gave the cyclops a lot of wine with a really high concentration and the cyclops got so drunk he passed out. In this version, Odysseus instead puts lotus in the cyclop's wine to make him pass out because as established in Open Arms lotus makes your mind go a lil wonky
Odysseus is a huge bastard! He killed the cyclop's best friend, then tricked him with a 'gift', so even if the cyclop did let them go, he'd still be drugged, then he blinded him, and didnt even finish the job. Odysseus is dumb. I understand Athena's choice of leaving
Every god pulls the old "just a man" card. Yet mortals being smarter or more skilled than them is a big partnof greek mythology. Not to mention it is only a matter of time before a demigod kills them. The cycle is well known.
@IndominusRex-wc1ey True. The telling I heard mentioned that Prometheus knew the future. His name is where we get premonition from. He always knew he would be tortured, and him giving humanity fire was the plan to take down Zeus.
