I was interested to learn about Epic a bit before applying to a job that used it (system different from current job), so I appreciated the look at what is available to learn. Thanks!
I appreciate these videos. I’ve been working in Epic for over 12 years and never knew about this career path. I’m currently doing the proficiency study.
Hi @86meridian, I'm glad you found some of my videos helpful. That's crazy! I was on the same boat since for some reason no one talks about this career. That's great, it will give you an overall understanding at how Epic works in the back end.
@@virtualizehealth Yes and I lived in Wisconsin lol I recently moved to the south. I’m sure one of my employers in Wisconsin would’ve sponsored me 😄 I lived less than 2 hrs from Verona. I’m so mad! (jokingly)
I just stumbled upon this video thank you so much, ❤ I’ve also been in healthcare for 12 years work for hospital , Epic Ambulatory, Registration and cadence. Looking to transition to Epic analyst or Epic consultant , you mention accreditation, do you happen to know how much $$ would be if I were to pay for classes to obtain certification?
Hey there! That’s amazing, you have much healthcare experience using Epic. I’m not exactly sure how it much it costs but I heard it’s around $5k. I also don’t think you can pay it yourself since the healthcare organization that you would be working for should cover it. It could be a good bargaining chip if you mention that you are willing to take a $5k pay cut in the first year just so you can get certified. Win-win situation for everyone. Thank you for your comment!
I currently work for a health plan that will be implementing epic tapestry for health plans within the next two years. I was selected as one of the wave one team members to be a part of the implementation and get epic certified. so I will be starting my training in Wisconsin at the end of October so this was helpful and just trying to get some more information and know what to expect.
That's fantastic news! Being part of the wave one team is a significant opportunity. Training in Wisconsin sounds exciting-be sure to soak in all the knowledge and experiences!
Applying to jobs for the last couple of weeks, but still nothing. In the meanwhile I’m currently doing the self study route for resolute. Any tips for people that don’t have degrees?
Hi Marco, Thank you for stopping by. If you don’t have a degree, I recommend you to apply for Epic Credentialed Trainer roles. I found one for Virginia Hospital Center and their qualifications regarding education are as followed: - A two-year degree in healthcare field or equivalent level college courses in healthcare with appropriate experience may also be acceptable with supplemented experience. This means that you apply even if you don’t have a degree yet. They like seeing that you are taking some college courses since it gives the impression that you love learning. I’ve met many people who did not have a college degree and still got Epic Credentialed Trainer roles. Look for organizations that are newly transitioning to Epic, this will give you the best chances! Let me know if you still need help. Good luck 👍
Hello! Thanks for the video super helpful! Are you still willing to do a walk through for a new soon to test for epic certification & i’m terrified. Thanks
I current work at providence as a MA and am a super user. I am looking to get certified in Epic. I’m lost at how to get started when I get to the site.
Very informative video, how do you get accredited from an outsider perspective I am currently in Telecom looking to make an immediate shift with no funds to get to Verona.
Hey there! Honestly, I believe it’s close to impossible to get the certification/accreditation as an outside who is coming from a different industry. A lot of the work requires the understanding of healthcare workflows and it would be hard to know them as an outsider. Although, you could try working for Epic systems’ headquarters first to get your certification and ease your transition. Try looking at their openings for the requirements.
I am infection prevention RN, I have used EPIC in the past 3 years. I’m going back into IP role as a IP consultant or taking travel assignment. I’m not currently working but will return soon. I need to be more proficient with the EPIC program for nursing as IP. Is there online training I can do from my Home.
Hey there! That’s awesome! Hope the best for you. There isn’t but I could possibly help you brush up on some of those Epic questions. You can reach out to me on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/gct19
Any information on the Helios upgrade that’s about to roll out? I work for Henry Ford Health and we’re about to get the Helios upgrade soon, April 22 . From what I’ve seen so far, there isn’t going to be a way for schedulers to remove and add back provider held spots /exceptions. A good majority of our providers use those holds as a way of controlling their schedules and allowing more time to be spent with complicated patients. I myself schedule for a dermatology clinic. Our current application is the Epic Hyperspace
Hi @pepsicarwash, I haven’t heard about the Helios upgrade at my organization. Although, I don’t think the functionality to remove or add provider held spots/exceptions will be removed since it’s so important. Those template settings are usually done within the Edit template activity in Epic Hyperspace. I will look into this Helios upgrade and let you know the major changes.
My company does use this platform thankfully. Is it mainly to verify if you should have access? Will my company have to pay for me to use this? They are ok w/ me trying on my own but not sponsoring me at this time.
Hey there! You can roam around the Epic’s userweb at no costs. The company will just need to pay for your virtual/in person classes, which come with the official exam and projects.
Can you add tracks your self? Do they cost? I just landed a job at my company. I was a bed side nurse so this side of EPIC is new. Trying to learn about NOVA, training and other applications
Hi! You'll want to email Epic to register for the free self-study proficiency. After you're approved, you'll see the course under "Training Home" >> "Your In-Progress Certificates". That page will display a progress bar that shows the status of your projects and exams.
@@virtualizehealth I am in the same boat. FF up question. Our facility does not allow us access to our outlook work email AT HOME. What is your recommendation when emailing EPIC Systems?
Hello. Thank you for your content and especially this video. I have a few certifications and work for an Epic company. I currently work in Tapestry but Im interested in self study for more marketable modules.
Hey there! There are lots of them but they vary based on the organization. I would suggest that you reach out to your epic trainers at your org and ask for the tutorials.
Laid off now but I was working as Clinical Admin coordinator using Epic at a healthcare company. I just requested an account for the Epic Web User. And suggestions on which route to take? Been really trying to to break into the IT side
Hey Troy, Sorry to hear about the layoff. I would go to my Epic (EHR) Applications playlist and find which video best describes your old position. I would then find the exact Epic application and search for jobs using that keyword. For example, you could search for Cadence Epic analyst job posts. Then, I would read each of the job descriptions and look for the following keywords: "Credentialed in Epic module or applications within 3 months of hire." or "Certification and/or experience in Epic **application** a plus" or "Applicable Epic application certification (e.g. Inpatient, Ambulatory, etc.) required or must complete certification within 6 months of hire." If the job post has anything stating the above, the healthcare org is willing to pay for your certification. Hope this helps! Please feel free to join my community where I post these type of jobs posts: teams.live.com/l/community/FAAgBPCi_5_AThEjgU
@@TroyTV5 You should just be able to copy the link and past it to the address bar but I think I had some issues with redirecting it to my old community. I created a new link to fix the issue. Please try again: teams.live.com/l/community/FAAbgH535jBmPS0hQE
Is there anyway I can become EPIC certifited If I don't work in Healthcare? I recently recevied my Medical Billing Specialist Certification and wanted to be able to get EPIC certified to up my chances of getting a job. Its so hard getting a job with no exprience in healthcare.
Hey there! 1. It would be very difficult but if you also have some IT experience then it's worth a shot. 2. I would focus on finding a job with your medical billing-specific certification at an organization that uses Epic. You could then focus on transition to the Epic Hospital Billing or Professional Billing modules. Hope this helps.
Hi thanks for the videos…I have epic training account/access from work(MD cap region medical center). I am interested in getting epic analyst position in near future. I have masters in nurse informatics.
Good morning my name is Jimea I live in Cleveland,Ohio I have some Epic experience from my old job (Cleveland clinic hospital) I am currently at University Hospital, we won’t start using Epic here until 9/2023! My current position here is revenue cycle specialist l. I am interested in becoming epic certified and eventually a Epic consultant/elbow support. I have a EHR specialist certification currently.I have been applying to jobs in that field for 2 years now and still have not found a career. My question is do you know how can I get started or pointed into the right direction? I have been trying for a few years now since my last job
Hi Jimea, thank you for stopping by! In my opinion, I would continue to make connections within UH since they will go-live with Epic soon. As soon as you have access to Epic's UserWeb website, you could start looking for material related to Hospital or Professional Billing since you have revenue cycle experience. The Epic application that you should focus on is Resolute (HB or PB). Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Hello which class would you recommend for someone trying to transition to becoming an epic analyst. I have access to the training but there are lots of classes to choose from. Thank you.
Hi Kevin, thank you for commenting. It all depends on what kind of background you are coming from. Do you have clinical, clerical, or technical experience?
@@Kevin-cl2mr You got this! If I were you, I would look into the Bones Epic Application. That application is for the orthopedic department, which is closer to PT than the other modules.
Hey there! You would need to apply for epic analyst position that says you should be certified within a set amount of time. You should focus on certain skills if you want to do well in the interview. I have a video on 3 things to focus on in my channel. Check it out!
Hello I have been working in healthcare organizations which has epic. My question is can i do the accreditation steps from my personal laptop. And also how to open the Citrix Ply in laptop. Requesting for somw guidance
Hey there! You should be able to do it with your personal laptop. You would need to request the Citrix PLY environment from Epic, I believe. Are you still stuck?
Hey there, That’s awesome! You should definitely try to get started on that. There is a lot of value in completing those since you get have hands on experience with the system. Let me know how it goes!
Hey there, Welcome to the channel! Self-study proficiency is an Epic training pathway that does not require you to get sponsored for the certification to learn more about Epic systems. This training is free to Epic end-users who work at a healthcare organization that uses Epic. The difference between that and Certification/Accreditation is that the latter is taught by Epic instructors, which makes it more valuable for healthcare organizations.
Hello I am working in hospital as Unitclerk it has epic software. Iwould request for courses which i can do. As i have experience in cerner as application analyst where i have knowledge on how the design, development or implementation is done.
Hey there! Good luck! I believe the training provided by Epic is enough in order to be able to pass the exam alone. I would focus on really understanding the build that you work on in your practice project before the exam. Understanding how the records link together is key to passing the exam.
How can you tell ahead of time that the program requires tuition payment by institution? Is there any way to get around this and pay for the course on my own?
Hey there! In general you are not able to pay it yourself but I’ve seen some people work that out per organization. It’s worth asking your organization.
Hello My name is Vishal Desai i just graduated in masters in Health Information and I was Interested in becoming Epic Certified. Can you guide me further
@@virtualizehealth hey I have also the similar question, I have been working in US Healthcare/Denial Management/AR Insurance Follow Up for last 3.5 years in India and currently I am using EPIC Hyperspace for my day to day RCM work, now could you please guide me How do I get EPIC certified or access the Epic training modules? I would appreciation you early response into this matter. Thanks
Hey guys! I’m just seeing these messages. Unfortunately you will need to work for an organization that uses Epic and get familiar with working with the system first. It is hard to land your first job without this experience.
