@@thetruekingofnorway It was a pretty damn good reeanctment, felt real, most reenactments in general feel very fake, like old guys walking in front of enemy fire with no concern in a lot of Civil War reenactment. This was exceptional, sorry I'm saying this 2 years after I found the video lol.

Alright idk if this will ever be read but here I go. My dream in life, my goal, is to make a proper WW1 MilSim (Meaning there is use of both blank fire and Airsoft weapons). Idk how these two hobbies get along but this shows me that the re-enactment people are okay with getting their hands dirty and being rough. Can you imagine: A fully built German trench system, completed with pillboxes and artillery guns (firing pyrotechnic Airsoft munitions I.E. taginn shells) being raided by an army of doughboys and a MKIV tank. Rubber bayonets slicing away, pea grenades and potato mashers putting up clouds of smoke and plastic, distant heavy artillery shells hitting the dirt (rigged squibs) and in all that having to sustain your force for three days and three nights, with no breaks to go out to the air conditioned car and reapply your helmet camo? Sleeping on a cot while your commander stays up into the late hours of the night trying to account for all his sentries? Snipers pinning down assault teams? MG08s shredding an oncoming British charge? It sounds like the experience of a lifetime. But I need help from everyone I can get help from. Comment if you’re interested.

As a public battle, it is planned for the most part, although specifics--like when someone "dies," is up to the individual usually. If it were a private tactical, nothing would be planned.

They're actually in pretty decent shape, for US reenactors. I'm a reenactor and probably twice these guys size. I don't like to focus on my weight or theirs, even, I just want to keep the history alive and teach other people about what happened all those years ago. Btw, you're the most respectful comment I've read so far addressing the subject, I applaud you for that.
@williamchristopher1560
@williamchristopher1560 4 года назад
Ive watched several WW 1 reenactments. What I notice, is that, the trenches ALOT of time are too short and soldiers heads stick out over the top A sentry will turn around to address an officer sentries stand with their heads in open view. When running through the woods they dont take EVERY source of shelter they find and run in short spurts from tree to tree, taking in whatevers in front of them before making a new rush, but instead run long distances regardless of any shelter. This would have likely worked if machine guns had not been invented. They are in trenches but no mans land is grass They dont hide themselves as if their lives depended on it They dont have the scared to death attitude , but are doing charges in lackadasical fashion Their uniforms arent muddy or splotched with dirt and mud. Bessides Vietnam in 68, in which I was in the Kansas Natl Guard, Ive been in the Okla Natl Guard twice, once in infa ntry where when we went out on patrol I saw the same attitudes in the men/boys. It was just a game, in which they didnt take all that seriously.

The Browning Automatic Rifle was first produced in 1917 and *did* see service at the late end of the war. And yes, it did go on to serve in WWII. Infact, it went up until the early 70s (by the U.S.A), serving from Vietnam to Korea to Turky and Cyprus. I can see where confusion may arise, but before posting a comment on a very well done reenactment with such an obvious 'mistake', you'd think 'Hmm, maybe these passionate history buffs who spend ages creating their kit, know more about weapons than I do'. And if all else fails, you could have *just googled it* Please: before you criticise others, *make sure you're actually right.*
