Thank you for your kind comments. I'm pleased to be of help, which is very satisfying. I hope you enjoy your guitar, they are an interesting choice. Best wishes Michael
Nice review and yes, they are neck divers. The nut is not a big deal at least for me, I have never noticed a difference in sound no matter what nut I use but then again, I don't trust my old hearing. Thanks for posting and many blessings!
I wonder if anyone has devised a bracket or a sort of extended post for the neck side strap button similar to steinburger, in effort of combating the neck dive situation.
The bridge is really an issue...i changed it with one from Hipshot and its like from another world almost. Much more sustain and strings stay in tune. Next thing i want to change perhaps are the tuners and the nut maybe too. All in a a nice instrument...its like the black but lovely sheep in the family haha
Interesting comment thank you. It's perhaps a quirky feature of these bases that they have unusual bridges. The tuners are quite poor quality really, but overall as you say a nice bass and particularly when you can customise to make it work best for you. It's always encouraging to hear of players modifying their guitars to suit and I think it shows what a fascinating interest we share. I hope that you continue to enjoy your guitar and thanks again for sharing as I'm sure others will benefit from your advice and experience. Best wishes Michael
I actually more interested in the more expensive model with the neck thru construction and better pickups . I have thought of that one as well . I'm more of a P or J bass guy though😊 I would of course want the Gibson but they are very expensive 😢
Hi, as per an earlier comment these guitars do have leverage when played on the thigh and seated, however the upper 'wing' tends to serve as a counter to the leverage when it rests beside the players arm / chest. Interestingly when played standing and with a strap, the balance is perfect. At this time the alignment is without any noticeable neck leverage and the guitar is held in a very stable position. Overall, these guitars are quirky, have their unique handling nuances but produce some very pleasing bass sounds. If you want something different then they are worth considering. I hope this helps with your question. Regards, Michael
Hi Paul, the tuners and nut are worth considering to upgrade, depending on how much work the guitar will be doing. Hopefully others will have suggestions that have worked for them. Regards, Michael
Interesting point, the original is different but as you say it doesn't suit everyone. Hopefully your replacement will work better for you. Thanks for your comment which adds to the knowledge base and is helpful. Regards Michael
