@@justamoteofdust does a mother or a father value any childrens life over their own? not, only their own children, the same way many creatures do in the rest of animal kingdom. The inhenerent uncouncious aim of any creature is to preserve their own genes, and THAT is precisely what is happening when a parent value their children survival over their own. THAT is our nature. It (fortunatelly) does not mean we cannot learn to modify our behaviour (even if it means going against our guts). This has got to be the aim for humans, to learn tu cope with our nature in order to achieve equilimbrium and harmony. But, unfortunatelly, the latest postmodern theories reject and denide our nature: thus, they put us one step further apart from understanding the problems of humanity.

They aren't tricked, they are made complacent by the sovereign, the leader-the leviathan. Because otherwise sonner or later we would each a stalemate as described in the episode. And they are made to agree with the contract because that's how you ensure the self preservation of most people possible, which most would consider the best choice.

The narrator IS a male from a developed country. It's likely a part of his original thought process that the unimportant details reflect himself. If his actual examination was through this sort of lens then there would be a problem, but it is only unimportant details and likely has nothing to do with targeting or preference.
