I have really been into this channel and have to say that I love it. Today started off really crappy. And that’s an understatement. I went to open my trunk to grab my safety vest and knee pads out of my tool bag. And well I open the trunk and see ya later Roy.. my tool bag is gone. It’s one of those rolling husky tool bags and all of my power tools. That’s my livelihood as far as how I generate income so man was I bummed. And then at the end of this episode you really lifted my spirits. You said something about a series of terrible mental states and if you can see that that’s all it is when you think life is kicking your ass you can get past it. That’s not exactly what you said but that’s how I took it and it helped a lot. Thanks again for the awesome videos

I'm an immunologist and I love your educational channel..I just want to add a little something to what your great monologue.interestingly, even on the cellular level we learned how to tolerate bacteria and other pathogens...we tolerate them so well we live in symbiosis with them...our immune system tolerates our gut microbiota yet fights and kills any possible threat. I think we as humanbeings behave slightly similar in a philosophical way of course... We tolerate small things because we have to..because of police officers just like our lymphocytes in the gut.yet we tend to kill and harm if we can or had to...

It was hard for me to think of the bus situation as anything other than a black and white situation. The driver was in a position of authority and controlled the child's ability to flee from the very start.

Tolerance towards the mere holding of a belief and tolerance to the enaction of those beliefs are slightly but importantly different things. If you believe in rule of law, then you can personally disagree with actions but still allow them to happen unimpeded. Voting/protesting/contacting representatives is how you make opinion heard, not by proselytizing each and every person who disagrees with you.

This happened at my last employer. I have autism. I have difficulty properly understanding vocal communication. At least I think that's the case. I've had it explained to me as a "cognitive blindspot." I honestly don't know. To me it feels like gaslighting, but I look at my life and see evidence of social difficulties, so I see it as a very real thing. This has led me to fundamentally doubt what I experience. Getting back to what happened, I wanted to know if a girl who was constantly flirting with me, what I thought was flirting, was single. I asked a guy who worked with her to inquire. This was a huge mistake. I should have simply asked. I didn't want to embarass myself or her. The next day I go into work and she's there. She has repeatedly looked at me over the last couple months and said, "Thanks friend," numerous times with particular emphasis on friend. Never once did she ever mention a boyfriend. Being in the "friend" zone isn't necessarily a bad thing. So I thought I would inquire. I thought, "Nothing bad can come from simply asking." What's the worse that can happen? Well she apparently heard about my inquiry, and was avoiding me. I starting sing the lyrics, "Would you say he's just a friend?" She comes up gets directly across from me and FINALLY mentions that she has a boyfriend. I thought, "Cool, it's settled. That's that." She then went over to a friend, recruited her to walk over, and while staring at a something on her phone literally in the only spot I could see them proceeded to say, "What a sociopath!" And then they both had a good laugh. I interpret this as public humiliation. I have some videos on youtube, what ever, I put myself out there to be more courageous. They're not good, or at least I don't think of them as being good enough. After she did that I slipped into a PTSD state and couldn't really mentally function from that point. Well the next day I demanded to have a sit down talk with everyone, and proceeded to have a mental break down. The manager told me to go home. I wasn't in a mental state to listen to anything at that moment. The manager disappeared. After a couple minutes my mind calmed down to the point where I came to the realization that the manager was right, and that I should go home. I gathered my stuff up, and said goodbye to my coworker. Later that day I got a text saying that I willingly walked away from my job, and quit. I was on the receiving end of intolerance that ended my employment by someone who didn't care that I had autism and lack certain executive mental functioning. The manager was the one being intolerant to someone with a disability. I was effectively thrown under the bus of intolerance in the name of me lacking tolerance. My coworker has agreed to testify in court if given a subpoena to corroborate my view that I was fired in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The kicker is that I was still in my probationary period. So, yeah, I'm still in the process of talking to legal council. But I think I might have a legitimate wrongful dismissal case because management didn't follow, "due diligence." If they had, they would have understood that my executive function is impaired, but rather than deal with a difficult person, they just said that I "walked away" from my job. I got myself fired by simply standing up for myself, and saying "Don't treat me like a sub human animal." So yeah... tolerance, weeeeeee. Your argument at the beginning sounds like a slippery slope argument. The absolute nature of his argument makes it sound like things go to 100% logical completion like a well structured chemistry equation. That is not how the real world works. If your premise is wrong, your conclusion is wrong. Trying to create a generalized argument creates issues with the concept of balance of power. Needless to say tolerance is a difficult concept, and is constantly squirming around in one's hands like a trout covered in slime. How do people balance the rights of me having a disability, and the beliefs of a manager, or two people with disabilities? The answer the manager came up with is to throw the retard, me, away like garbage. Having seen this solution over and over by jerk off managers, I've decided to stop talking at work. I don't want to be homeless, and the simple fact is, I'm annoying to neurotypicals. How far am I willing to go will depend on what legal council has to say.

How intolerant I am towards those under my care are affected by many factors. One of the more interesting one is how firmly I believe that what they are doing or saying has detrimental effects. For example I can tolerate my brother's staying up late to work because I can't say for sure sacrificing sleep for work really is bad. But if he stays up late to play video games then I'd be less tolerant becuase I am more convinced that it is bad.

I draw the line at the very beginning. What kind of rude ass bus driver jumps into someone else's conversation? Also if your goal is to change minds why resort to threats or violence? If anything that will only reinforce that person's ideas because you are abusing authority to win an argument. As I think most of us know, that only really creates resentment.

Beliefs are not destructive.

A cautionary tale that the 2020 technocrats would have been wise to heed before their virtual "book burning" began that year.

Before hearing the end of the podcast, i wanna give my opinion spoilers free haha. I believe that tolerance is acceptable as long as other people's opinions (actions) do not affect third parties life. Simple as that. This leaves some gray areas such as abortion, eutanasia, etc. but it certainly rules out religious "superior" morality dictating how people should live, or murderers, or pederasty, for instance. Other people's integrity is the limit.

Wow, note on 10:13 - Fast-forward to today and we only see intolerant people chanting on the streets (Proud Boys, Police Blue State, Anti-mask protests,...). The modern America we have in mind is slowly deteriorating under autocratic media moguls and an angry orange injecting fear. Intolerance is not that rare anymore, intolerance is heightening, and I fear for the future if we vote for the angry orange.
