Join me for a little holiday stroll, a visit with Santa and of course lots of knitting chat. And yes a Lobsta Pot Tree #blockislandholidaystroll #northlightfibers #blockisland #theislandlamb
This Thanksgiving weekend was the 31st annual Block Island Stroll. It was a perfect brisk sunny day.
We started with a visit to North Light Fibers owned by Laura and Sven Risom. The mill has been in operation since 2009. It's a micro mill where handcrafted artisanal yarns are made 100% on Block Island. The mill and retail shop are located in the middle of an Exotic animal zoo. https:/northlightfibers
I purchase stitch markers custom made for North Light Fiber by Providence based Katrinkles. #katrinkles a women owned and operated business. They make buttons and tools for knitters. Check out their website https:www.katrinkles.com #katrinkles
On the mannequin is the lovely Seacoast Slipped-Rib Pullover designed by Joji Locatelli. #jojilocatelli patterns can be found on Ravelry. I used North Light Fibers Seaside yarn. A beautiful 50% supima cotton and 50% merino wool.
I'm wearing the Lory Pullover by Courtney Spainhower. I made it in Valley Yarns Northfield. 70% merino, 20% baby alpaca and 10% silk #courtneyspainhower
I made the Classic Ribbed Hat free pattern by Purl SoHo. I knit it in Cloudborn Superwash fingering weight yarn. I held two strands together and knit it on a size 4 needle.

Your Lory pullover looks amazing. I really love the color especially for the Christmas season. Thank you for sharing about the needle size blunder. It helps all of us cope with these mishaps😱. It 's great when we go back to those long-ago projects and complete them. Cool Lobsta Tree! 🎄

Great episode! The Lory sweater is gorgeous - you are such a fast knitter. I really like seeing the pictures of the island - it really is a beautiful place.

Good morning Jeanne, happy December! I’m working on the top stitching of the jean jacket and that is going slow. The knitting on the Lory went fast after the yoke simple sticking knit. I like a combination challenging and then mindless. What are you working on?

@@theislandlamb I am working on the last sleeve of the Misurina sweater which has taken me way too long to finish! No reason for it other than I've had very bad start-itis and started several other projects in the last week or so (mittens, advent skein socks)

Always look forward to your videos on a Tuesday morning. Great to see some of the island in preparation for Christmas too. The lobster pot tree must look great when lit up at night. Your red sweater fits you well and I really love the colour of the yarn used. I think a few of us knitters have also made mistakes with the ribbing. I have worked K2P2 rib on a cardigan but did the back in K1p1 rib! Well, have a great week, Sophie.

@@theislandlamb Hi Diane, I have put my knitting needles away for a while and I am now doing Victorian style cross stitch samplers which I bought at the start of the UK lockdown two years ago. I have completed two so far but have others which I must work on! I need to reduce my 'to do' list of projects before I pick up the needles again. I think you must know what I mean by that? Take care until next week.😀

Maybe you can make a swatch with the yarn you are using for your steeked sweater and practice cutting it on the swatch. I'm confident that the yarn will behave. 😊

At least u can name ur coat "frogging". And with intarsia! Ugh! Wish u had shown the item while telling it. Also, would have liked a closeup of sweater on stand. Just suggestions. U put a lot of time and effort into these items. A closeup helps us understand ur projects. Keep going because I'm enjoying AV. I've been looking at hours of knit stuff on RU-vid and ur site has potential. Loved the content. Delivery was pretty good. Good luck to ur site.

Good morning, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your feedback. I will definitely make sure to take close up shots of my work. I’m still figuring it all and that’s why your comment is so helpful. I’ll definitely be showing the coat in episode 11.

Do you drink wine? Pour yourself a glass, take a deep breathe and cut away your steek. Sit back, sip your wine, admire your results, and not for one second think about your procrastination over the task. Just pat yourself for doing it and smile.

Good morning! Thank you for the encouragement. I’ve been know to drink a martini from time to time. Yes a glass of courage should do the trick!
